Although having a bigger one 23" or 24" won't do the job. Those have resolutions of 1920x1080 or so. A HD 6950 could probably be close to maxing out, but still missing a bit. (Nothing big tho). I would go with the HD 6950 2GB if you have the money, or even the 1GB, they got dirty cheap the pass weeks compared to the 570 or 560. And the HD 6950 does beat the 560.
Sorry, I should also mention that I have borrowed a 1080p monitor from a friend for a few weeks and it stil maxes most things - and I only have one in at the moment

a 6870 @ 975/1200 = 6950 @ stock speed

I got more info for about what i will play so choose again.

I will be running games at 1920x1080
I won't have AA on, unless IF those jagged lines would annoy me so much then i would turn 2x AA maximum.
I won't play games like Crysis, Metro 2033 and those on benchmarks.
Only GTA IV, BFBC2, COD MW2

So which one should i choose ?

By the way, when you guys will chose which one of those 2 GPU's, please recommend some good cases you know for it.

That'll give you a good idea of card performance.

Then a 6870 for sure, should max all those - mine max BC2 and MW2 with ease, 100+ FPS even at 1080p.

Thanks, but do you know which case is best for it ?
EDIT: Is NZXT Lexa S good for it ?

Wrong, my 6870 can max everything at 1080p (apart from crysis)

The 6870 and 6950 are closer in paper specs than many people realize...

The 6950 has 10% more tessellation, shading capability, and vertex calculation capacity, 40% more texture mapping capability, and 14% less on-screen pixel drawing capacity than a 6870.

In situations with low AA and a standard HD resolution (as defined by the requester of this information), neither card is going to run into it's pixel drawing boundary in any typical modern game. So you can negate the negative and take all the positive in this particular comparison.

Based on the paper numbers, we could say that, in a situation that is absolutely non-CPU bound or bound by any other attribute of the surrounding hardware, given the conditions defined (1080P and low AA), the performance of a 6950 would be between 10% and 40% faster than a 6870. In the real world, with real limitations produced elsewhere in the system, a 40% gain in performance is never realized even in applications that are texture mapping bound. Most games will be closer to the 10% than the 40% bracket.

----------------------

A 6950 currently costs 40% more than a 6870. And in the real world, that's a real 40% difference.

I probably would not pay 40% more for a performance gain of *around* 20%.

The 6870 is in the top tier of where the value segment drops off IMO.

------------------------

Oh... There is one very important difference between these 2 cards if you are interested in math/science related studies that use the GPU. (like various distributed cloud computing networks like BOINC). The 6950 is double precision capable, the 6870 is not. For gaming, this doesn't seem to matter.
