Automated TC Stats - Phase three live!

Thread Starter

Autostats site

Finally, we've come to the end of the development of the stats site. :D This update should contain all the features required for TC Folders, and marks the end (after almost two years) of the GDocs stats. Below is a list of the changes:

Before we begin, again, a HUGE  thank you to sks and Lutz for the work they've put into this. Please do send them a PM thanking them for bringing this to life; without them, you'd still be relying on my updating GDocs once every three days. :P

Server and URL Change

Well, the move to OCN's servers has finally been complete. Loads of bugs and little issues that we've been weeding out, but we're happy that the majority of them have been cleared up. :) This also brings with it a change in URL; the new site is available at:

http://tc.folding.net/

Please do update your bookmarks. The old sks72.dyndns.org site may still show the TC page, but it is out of date.

Summary tab

Essentially, this should replace the updates we posted in the General Discussion thread; changes in rank on a daily basis, as well as category leaders. :)

Teams tab

This is where most of the work has gone for this update. Dedicated team pages. :D So, click into (for example) The Misfits' page, and you should see this:

Untitled.png

There are three main sections:

Monthly stats

On the left, you'll see the points and ranks of each position for three months; current month, and then the two previous months too. Hovering over a Folder's name will show the hardware used. You can also go further back by pressing the "Back One Month" button (highlighted in red). The top month will always remain as the current month, but the other two can cycle back.

The stats only currently go back to December 2011. There is a method available to import olders stats, but it's a lot of work, and I don't intend to do it unless requested.

Daily Stats

In the centre are the daily stats for the current month, quite simply. :) Now, at the bottom, you can also press the "Switch to Updates" button (highlighted in purple) to switch from 1 update a day to 8 updates instead, for whatever reason you might have for that. :P

You can also change the month being show by pressing on the month in the Monthly stats section (highlighted in green) if needed.

These stats only go back to January 2012. Again, unless requested, I don't intend to import the old stats.

Team Records

On the right, we have the record totals for each position. the Folder, the points they ended with, and if you hover over their name, the month the record was achieved. :)

This is the end of the development for the autostats system. Aside from maybe adding new categories/teams/divisions in the future, I have no plans (or, indeed, ideas) for additional features for the site. I don't think we need much more, to be honest, It's come out far better than I thought it would, and should certainly be a step up from what we've had in the past.

Enjoy. :D

Automated TC Stats Sites

First of all, thanks to sks72 and 1337LutZ for their work on this. It's been a fair bit of work for the past few months, and not always easy to get us all online at the same time. And you'll all know how easy it is to do things around here with me. tongue.gif Now, on to the changes we made for phase two:

General changes
• Hovering over a member's name will now show their hardware and category (on the team pages), or their hardware and team name (on the cat pages):

Tooltip feature (Click to show)
unledzds.pngunled25h.png

• Clicking on a team name (on the team pages or the leaderboard) will take you to the OP of the team thread on OCN.
• Graphs have been added for each team.
• Temporary members are bold on all pages, and inactive (but not yet replaced) members are in italics.

The style
• Colour scheme has been changed to match OCN.
• Headers and titles are now outside of the stats box, with a drop shadow to emphasise them.
• Links have been changed to a tab bar, with curves. wink.gif
• OCN logo in the top left, which links to the OCN homepage.
• The update timer has been moved to the top right, and now counts down to the next update, rather than mentioning when the previous update occured.
• Updates are still done every six hours (starting from 6am BST).

Team pages
• Graph links added next to each team's name.
• Team boxes now resize to fit the longest name (unlike before, where the edge of the box overlapped them).

Leaderboard
• "Points from next" column added.
• Graphs next to the points for each team. In colour. smile.gif
• Division total are above each leaderboard.
• There is also a graph for each division for teams' overall points.
• "Team name" column has been expanded so the longer teams don't take up two rows.

Category Rankings page
• By default, the first member in each category is in the leading team (if Still in Beta are in first, then their members will be head of each category).
• By clicking the Category header (i7, i7-2, etc), you can sort by rank (Note: the categories are linked, so if you sort by i7, and the first member is from Laundromatic, then all other categories will be lead by Laundromatic members).
• You can sort one category per division (you can rank by i7 for D1, and Fermi by D2), but no more than one in the same division.
• You can merge the two i7 categories together (and then sort by rank if you wish). This should give a better indication of how a team's i7 positions compare with the rest of the Division:

i7 merge feature (Click to show)
unled2d.pngunled3anq.png

And a hell of a lot of bugs sorted out for the actual stats. biggrin.gif

As for the future, we do have plans, mainly to do with having daily stats in the same way as we have on the GDocs stats now, and team pages on the stats site itself. Not gonna be any time soon though; we still have a fair few things to sort with the backend... so many Folders and features is making it awkward now. Plus, we need sks to get some free time, and that's not easy when you're busy trying to learn things. tongue.gif
The GDocs stats will continue, since we need the daily points to be shown when there are issues with points. And that means you'll still get me posting updates in the General Discussion thread once in a while. cool.gif

So, for now, enjoy the site, and keep an eye out for me mentioning we're working on phase three. Again, a HUGE thanks to both sks and LutZ for making this possible. band.gif

Known issues:
• Division graphs aren't updating.
• In the team graphs, a replaced user's points begin from 0, rather than being the total of his own points, and the points of the user he replaced (and hence, the points don't match up with the graph points).
• The "Merge i7" feature on the Categories page sorts them as i7-2/i7-1, when it should be the other way around.
• Can't unsort categories after sorting by rank.
• Reject manual update/user update if Stanford is updating stats.
• Don't show updated points values until after the update is fully completed (so negative points don't show up mid-update/if update is interrupted).

Phase 1 (Click to show)
Preview of phase two:
http://www.overclock.net/team-competition/1068447-automated-tc-stats-2.html#post14513912

Before anything, a big thanks to sks72; he's the one whose made this system, and dealt with all the crazy additions that I've asked for. applaud.gif
EDIT: Bah, never edited this with a thanks to 1337LutZ for all the graphics work on the site. thumb.gif

Now, on to the stats. biggrin.gif As of right now, all points are synced up (Folders and teams); what remains is to confirm that they stay accurate from now onwards.
The main link is available here.

*Stats updated every 6 hours at the moment

So, if anyone has any praise, go ahead and send them sks' way. Any issues/feedback/suggestions, post them here, or PM them to me. wheee.gif

Way to go sks just what we needed, a zodac with more free time. I'd like to make a suggestion of an inter-team team competition, what do you think guys? Hopefully that will be convoluted enough to be impossible to automate, let's get some support for this!

Now, on to the stats. As of right now, all points are synced up (Folders and teams); what remains is to confirm that they stay accurate from now onwards.
The main link is available here, which links to the actual stats:

Division One
Division Two
Teams Leaderboard

*Stats updated every 6 hours at the moment

So, if anyone has any praise, go ahead and send them sks' way. Any issues/feedback/suggestions, post them here, or PM them to me.
Don't I just know about that...with all the hoo haa that you changed when I was setting up the FaT spreadie (speaking of which....when is there one?? ) last year....

Good job with the result, but perhaps it could be "prettified" a bit, as per LutZ's comment...and I'd be happy to have it sit on my site if that is okay - in case of any downtime/DDNS issues with wherever it is now - then it could be alongside the live HFM stats for most of the Teams...... (I could always host a duplicate)
