I'm thinking about upgrading to a i5 2500k and a ASRock P67 Extreme4, would the following ram work in it until I get some better ram?

Have you checked the specs? I believe you MUST have DDR3 since they are notched differently. I know I have to have DDR3 for my Sabertooth without exception as stated in my mobo manual.

It has to be dd3, but you can get ram for like $40 if you just want the cheapest.

Patriot Viper Xtreme Series, Division 2 Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PXD34G1600LLK

No it will not work. You must have DDR3 and preferably at 1.5v.
You can get 4GB of good ram off the egg for 40$.

Dang, somebody beat me while typing, the RAM he suggested is 1.65v, which is above the recommended 1.5v.

If you want quality ram that is cheap enough to do the job, I would get this:

If you want heatspreaders,
Red

Blue

anything better than that ram and you will pay more than 40$.
