Dolby headphone - on
Virtual 7.1 - on
Audio - 8 channels
Quality setting - war tapes

Try it now. If it isn't amazing then I don't know what to you tell you.

Just tried that out, and it's supremely annoying. Generated a significant and persistent echo. Otherwise it was ok, but man, the echo was annoying.

Try the same thing, but instead of War Tapes use Home Cinema, and make sure you set it to 6 speakercount in settings.ini

Will try soon, but why Home Cinema over War Tapes? Also, why should I set the audio to 8 channels in Xonar settings and 6 in the ini file?

Home Cinema seems to be the most dynamic sound setting, and War Tapes has that reverb/echo/ambient boost you seem to dislike.
You can set the audio channels in Xonar to 6 if you want, it doesn't make a difference. 6 is the most BC2 allows.

Make sure reverb is disabled in the Xonar drivers. I think they are enabled by default. I don't hear any annoying echo.

Do you know where that setting is in the UNi drivers perchance? I switched a few weeks ago and am still trying to find things in there (I didn't change it much when I switched).

Uh, I am not sure but I can show you where they are in the Xonar drivers, if the UI is the same I'm sure you can find it.

Xonar DS working absoloutely perfectly here, having no problem hearing footsteps or positioning gunfire.

I enable Game Mode and GX with Dolby Headphone and have no issues in BC2.
