Cyclone 6850 Dead Space 2

So i recently bought an MSI Cyclone 6850 and for the most part i am quite pleased with my purchase. Its a really nice card - factory overclocked, 60+fps at full HD in most games and temps never cross 68C at 100% load.

The default clocks are 860 mhz - core/1100 mhz - memory. Started o'cing and gradually increased the speed to 901 mhz on the core with Afterburner. Scanned for artifacts with AtiTool for about 15-20 minutes and no yellow dots. Also played Crysis, Crysis2, Metro for a sustained period with no issues whatsoever.

Half an hour into Dead Space 2 though and bang - the picture freezes. No artifacts or anything, just a frozen picture and the audio loops. I return the clocks to default and the problem disappears. Also even at default speeds, there is always a kind of lag/stutter that i experience from time to time when moving or just looking around. It feels like the fps has dropped below 60 even though Fraps displays a number well north of it.

Since i am getting more fps than my monitor can display, i can just leave the clocks at default but i would really like to know why my PC is locking up with Dead Space 2 of all games. GPU killers like Crysis and Metro work flawlessly so i am guessing the problem isn't unstable clocks. Would really appreciate it if someone would shed some light on this matter and suggest a workaround if any.

Thanks

I bought the regular Cyclone R6850 and mine is overclocked to 960/1125 @ stock volts (1.149).

No artifacts or anything. Are you running the latest drivers? 11.6?

Yes i too am running 11.6.

960 is good overclock considering you started with 775mhz. I too hope to get there myself which is the reason why i bought this card. Like i said got to 900 w/o any artifacts and it plays Crysis and Metro with no problems...its only Dead Space 2 that's freezing up.

Btw what temps do you at full load and idle?

I have 2 80mm side fans and 1 80mm bottom fan that feed the card fresh cold air.

My idle temp is 38-40c with the fans on low and max load temp in games is 50c and max in furmark is 55-58c with fans on high.
