Some mechanical keyboards such as the Model M, can last decades. Always go wired too. It's more reliable, no lag, and no dealing with batteries.

I would say the Razer DeathAdder Black. The only build issue is that the mousefeet are too thin and you may have to replace them with aftermarket ones in a few months. Shouldn't be much of an issue. The scroll wheel and microswitches are averagish and should last just as long as everything else with a mechanical scrollwheel (no bugs like in the classic Microsoft mice). Only issue with the sensor is that the lift off distance is rather high but you can fix that by sticking a piece of scotch tape over it (You need replacement mousefeet for this as the stock ones are too thin for this mod). Also with the black, people who sweat while gaming and have acidic sweat get it all over their mouse have had the rubber coating on the sides wear off but you should be fine. Maybe they just have long fingernails.

Despite these issues, it's the best palm grip mouse out there. I use it myself. The only other palm grip mouse with a good sensor is the classic Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 but the build quality has been decreasing on them and they have a low perfect control speed. The Logitech G400 has a good shape but has prediction. You can fix the problems with the DeathAdder should they annoy you, you can't turn prediction off on the G400 so I would recommend the DeathAdder.
I wasn't aware of the black edition. The logo not being a stupid blue colour appeals to me. Hmm.

A lot of people are recommending the Deathadder, but the zowie EC1 has pretty much the exact same ergonomics; I find it slightly more comfortable actually. It's just a simple down-to-business comfortable and accurate mouse.

The reason it's not being recommended is that it has prediction.

Ikari is the most ergonomic mouse I've used so far. It's definitely more ergonomic and durable than the Deathadder which I used before.

Try the Logitech MX518 its a weird looking thing with its dented steel look but its actually a great mouse and cheap too.

Ive only ever had one "gaming" mouse, the mx518. Got is summer for 2005. Been going great sense. My hand is large though and i wish i had something a tad bigger, and heavier.

mousepad? free one from home and garden show.

as for a keyboard, im ok with rubber dome keyboards, so i have a 10 dollar wallyworld keyboard.
