Google+ and your pics -- I mean Google's pics..

In case you guys didn't know about this..

http://photofocus.com/2011/07/06/goo...e-you-sign-up/

Once you post something on Google, they essentially have free reign to use or edit (for any purpose) your images, all the while preventing you from any sort of compensation (you implicitly agree to it by reading their TOS and posting the images).

Couple this with the 'Instant Upload' feature in the Google+ mobile app, and now, all your cell phone pics that you're taking are getting automatically uploaded to a 'private' folder for you to have/peruse.. that being said, they're uploaded, so I dont know if G+ retains the rights to these as well or not.

I think I finally found something about G+ I'm not all that fond of..

Google is evil just like any other large corporation. It's like liberals saying conservatives are wrong or conservatives saying liberals are wrong. They are all evil, people just want to believe what they want to believe. They always have and always will.

Facebook is exactly the same.

Also, you can turn off the auto upload feature on Android.

My profile pic is a copyrighted picture. I have the right to use it, but I dont have the right to release it -- does that mean I'm breaking Google's policy by using copyrighted items (which I have the right to use) because I can't implicitly give the control to Google?

The whole thing is dumb.

I think it is just to protect them in case of any mishaps that might occur. I believe Facebook did the same/similar thing.

'protect them' in case of mishaps?

I dont see how using the images I take and display on my Google+ account, editing them any way they want to, and using them any way they want to -- even for commercial advertisement (i.e. making money off of my images) -- is a mishap. You're essentially giving them free reign to anything image-wise you post there for whatever purpose they want, and you agree to the terms (including agreeing to not pursue compensation for said use) when you accept the TOS and post the pictures.

Yep, I shut that off right quick. Regardless of whether or not it's "publicly available", no need to automatically use my bandwith pushing pictures up to the "private storage" that I wont use anyway..

If they need to wipe a server with your pics on it, it gets a little sticky if they don't legally own them. I only post stupid pics to G+/FB anyway, from parties and the like.
facebook is not 100% the same. they wont use your photos or sell your photos for their own profit google can and will. facebook has rights to your photos but will not manipulate them... google can and will.

therefore G+ is cool but im not going to use it that often for much

That is a very outlandish claim. When have you ever heard of anyone's images being manipulated or sold by Google?
