Pricey monitor, but hey..gonna last 10+ years and one of the best monitors available on earth, right?

I just needed to brag and get it off my chest

Gonna be playing in 2560x1600!

Next upgrade is MSI 580 Lighting 3GB Xtreme Edition and Corsair AX650/AX850!
You will be better off with 2 580s gtx or even 480s. A single Gtx 580 will struggle in graphically demanding games

Uhh. Have you ever seen a modern 30" LCD? If so, which one.

They pretty much equal a random TN panel in terms of input lag and ghosting. Those are the two attributes that "fast" describes.

Therefore, the 30" monitors are fast enough.

U3011 has a lot of motion blur, it's really not a "gaming" monitor. I sold mine for other things after using it for a few months. Besides, maxing out games (and new ones to come) on that monitor means your hardware needs to pack a serious punch all the time, it adds up.

But for non-gaming, damn, that monitor was just awesome.

I've just bought hazros 27" inch version.. for alot less than what you paid

i've chosen 2560x1440 coz its better aspect ratio for movies. imo. (dont like black borders if they can be avoided)

I'm hoping for the new Dells to come out in the fall. I think that's when they come out?

Then hopefully the U3011s will drop drastically somewhat in price. Either that or I'm going with the HP. Also probably going to have to switch to the next AMD 7k series to power it, my 25" and 42" TV.

The 24" and under ultrasharps will be replaced this fall. The U2711 and U3011 will remain in the lineup.

Blargg.. well then I guess I'll just have to time my purchase sometime near the AMD 7k release, and whenever they have one of their $1125 sales. Again, or just get the HP for $1100.

I was hoping to get both for the BF3 release, but I haven't been keeping up with video card news the past month or so.

Yeah, there will be a U2212, U2312 and U2412 with backlit LED this fall.
And I bought mine since dell has a summer sale right now lasting till July 26th! I saved about 25% off the normal price!!!

And in case of video card news what I've heard is that both AMD and Nvidia will have their chips in stores in 1H 2012.

Alot of motion blur? In tests it has the same "amount" that the U2410 has, and I haven't even noticed it one bit on my U2410 I have now (1 year old).

Notice that the U2410 is with game mode, and I game in Adobe RGB and not the "Game" preset mode.

Source: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u3011.htm

And I'm well aware if I wanna run everything maxed out at 2560x1600 I need some serious hardware and prob. a upgrade every year (AMD 7000, Nvidia 600, Ivy bridge, whatever.) but not intending on that. There's always windowed mode in 1920x1200 (I game normally in windowed on my 1920x1200 dell u2410 now lol)
