Is my PSU good enough?

Thread Starter
Hello guys! I just bought a second GTX 470 to go with my system. I know that my PSU can handle my rig as it is, but I am also planning on overclocking my CPU to at least 4.5GHz. My question is, can my PSU take the stress of an OC'd CPU along with 2 GPUs in SLI? Thanks!

I think that it should have enough power, however it looks like the kind of PSU that shouldn't be used when overclocking. I'm not saying that it lacks the capacity for the extra power draw due to overclocking, but I'm saying that its internal components might not be good enough for it.

Yeah, I think the only good Kingwin unit right now might be the Kingwin Lazer Gold and maybe even the Lazer Platinum. Beyond that, I don't know.

The lazer gold is a very good unit

So if you own the lazer gold or the lazer platinum get it but untill they revise the internals of their cheaper units get a xfx or corsair or antec one

Well, I'm a little low on money (the extra GPU chewed up about all of the money I planned to spend on my computer) so I'd rather not get an extra PSU if it isn't necessary. But I will check out these PSUs for my next computer upgrade for sure! Or if my PSU can't, for some reason, handle the load.

It should be able to handle the load, but I am doubting its ability to handle the stress of overclocking.

Your PSU's +12V capacity is the same as mine (the HX650), and I've been told several times that I can easily have two GTX 470s in SLI and continue overclocking both my CPU and the two cards! However, the HX650 has quality internals too which can handle the stress of overclocking.
