Is having a ton of icons on my desktop going to slow my performance down?

Thread Starter
I have like 30 games installed from Steam, and they all have Shortcuts on my Desktop. Does that take up too much performance?

Not particularly.
It may slow your personal human performance down when looking to launch a specific game to play and having to wade through a sea of icons.

Not a fan of folders?

No. Unless you have a PC from 1994 with 8 MB RAM, icons/wallpaper/color scheme/etc have no tangible effect on performance.

Icons on your desktop won't have any effect on computer performance.

What they said. A wallpaper can slow down a system if its got very low memory, and icon's if the caching/hd read speeds are very very slow. These day's and on most pc's who browse this site ... the desktop/shell configuration plays less of an impact than services running in the background.
