AMD 990FX, 990X or 970?

Can somebody tell me what the difference is between these chipsets? If I plan on building a single gpu pc which should I go for?

For single GPU go for 970.

They're generally cheaper and don't have all the extras. They generally can still OC, but most don't support dual GPU technologies except Crossfire due to the x16/x4 lane configurations.
