You are right it's not quite worth it, in some sense. I'm building a 4 TEC chiller, and I found it costs much more. I guess TEC stuff never justify their cost... You can see much crazier things, people don't really care about the cost or time when come to extreme cooling, just have fun

In the end I could sell those swiftech xt.
The very notion that TEC cooling might be a good idea is insulting to me!

Once you're looking at TEC cooling, I think it's fairly safe to assume that efficiency and performance aren't what you're looking for...

If you want cost effective get a rasa kit and some GPU blocks and spend the rest on better hardware. Beyond that any additional cooling wont provide bang for buck

I totally agree! I got the rasa RX360 kit which works nicely. The problem is I always want to squeeze more from the system and end up upgrading this and that, which finally cost more. So nowadays I'm always going for the best stuff from the beginning.

I'm not complaining about the price. I already am deep into water cooling but do want more. My question is for 300 dollars can I get a better way of cooling? I understand you're not gonna get a great price to performance ratio but is it the best available after going water cooling for an extra 300?

After water, none of your options are cheap, you can go phase change, or TEC cooling, and this is one of the cheapest effective TEC projects I have seen.

$300 would net a modded a/c unit to use as a chiller and all the insulation needed annnnnnnd money in your pocket for the next mission

Yeah, you can get a 8000 btu a/c for about $200 and just pipe it directly to your case. That would keep your temps really cool.

The cold loop is in blue and the hot loop is in red. One TEC (CP1-12726 Ebay) is obviously not enough, but at least it lowed the temperature quite a bit, especially at idle. The cold loop radiator (140mm black ice high flow) is used to keep the cold loop temperature above dew point. The fan is set at 600 rpm.
Edit: The hot loop is cooled with xspc RX360 radiator with stock fan at ~1500rpm.

Testing Results:
(i7 960 4GHz, 1.32V)
Cold loop water temp: 19C idle, 30 load
CPU Core (by Real Temp): 27C idle, 63C load prime95
CPU temp: 30 idle, 49 load
ambient is around 27-29C
Good job.

Looks like I am the first one to rep you. (+rep)

Or you could do this for $300 and have everything in a case powered of the computers psu and not have an eyesore sitting around, and get as good or better temps then with a modded a/c unit, and less hazardous to boot.

Haha, you guys are right. It's not very cost-effective. But it's very easy to make... took my one day. I'm always less patient to see the results.

The AC unit is great.. I just cannot bear the noise and size
