Advice on first build?

Thread Starter
Hey guys I am planning on building my first computer and I just wanted to make sure that there will not be any compatibility issues. I will be using the computer for gaming and after effects among other things. My budget is approx $700,not including any os, and I need to make sure that I can output to my TV via HDMI as that will be used as the monitor. I want to be able to overclock and if there is anyway to reduce the price but keep around same performance that would be great.
Here is what i have:
Case- Antec Nine Hundred Two V3 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Motherboard- ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

CPU- AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOX

GPU- ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

RAM- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL

HDD- SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

PSU- CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Looks in order, motherboard is BD upgradeable. Maybe you'd like to ditch a little on the CPU if your going upgrade that way?

That will be a great build. Ready for BD, too.

Other than a HDMI adapter (mini), you are all set.

Please update us.

You did your homework didn't you?

In my opinion you should get a less expensive chip since you'll be upgrading. Get something like a 555 or 560 and make it cry until Bulldozer is finally released. Maybe you might get lucky in unlocking the 2 extra cores!

Moved to AMD general (threads like these belong there)

First of all it is best you buy that M5A97 on Superbiiz (only $81 shipped)
Second of all the Samsung F3 1TB is also cheaper on Superbiiz
Lastly this PSU is best for the price
