Everyone is right: To sum things up, there's no feasible way to protect yourself from being DDoS'ed unless you pay for services that are meant for businesses and corporations.

Just keep doing what you're doing and hopefully if it happens again you can figure out who it is and avoid any internet contact with them.

Spoof MAC address... also routers are supposed to have securities against hacking, go to the config page ae enable them (deny fragmented packets, ...)
