Just turned 16 and First PC Build needed

Thread Starter
First off I know that there seems to be a lot of threads related to first builds, and what not, but I just turned 16 and Im looking into building my own gaming pc. I would really like some opinions/recommendations on my performance and compatibility of my hardware (I really don't care about noise) from someone who has been doing this for years.

After A few days of research, here are the parts I'm looking at:
MoBo- ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
CPU- The upcoming FX-8150P or FX-8120 (depends on pricing)
GPU- This is one area I would really like some help with. I don't know to go with AMD or Nvidia, I diffidently want Multiple GPU's, and I'm kind of confused about Nvidia's "Physx" card. But anyways I'm looking at a Biostar Radeon HD 6870 (I would like to end up with two of these in crossfire)
RAM- 16 Gigs is my goal, I'm planning to use 4 corsair sticks.
Hard Drive- Westen digital 1TB with 64MB cache.
Power Supply- I would also like some help with this, but I'm looking for something in the range of 950-1200 Watts
Case- NZXT Zero 2, I would like some cooling advice as well.

I will diffidently be overclocking, I'm not new to that but, I would love advice though

Youre 16 and you can afford all that? Im 17 and i can barely afford this, i only have 300$ to my name

An HD6870 is a nice choice, but id get an HD6950 2GB and unlock it.

Lucky, I'm 17 and I had to annoy my parents and work hardcore for mine.

What will you be doing mostly on your computer? that you will be needing 16Gb of ram and I think you can save more of your money by stepping down to a 700-800w power supply, I don't know.
idk

Get a 2500K and Z68 board.
Ditch 8GBs of ram and get a 60GB SSD for Caching.

Much better option imo, the 2500K would likely dominate in games only optimised for quad core CPUs anyway.

First welcome to OCN.

Secondly, there will be no need for dual GPUs right off the bat. If this is you'r first major gaming rig, start with one decent card and see how that works for you. I had the 5770 (weaker than the 6870) and was fine untill recently.

Third, Don't add a physx card. Waste of power and cash. Period.

For the ram, there is no need for more than 8gb of ram. More may slow you down more than help. Get 8gb of decent memory and your be fine for the next few years.

There are many great Hard disks such as the Samsung spinpoint F3. Costs less most of the time as well.

For the power supply, 950w is insane. I would hightly recomend no more than a high quality 750w.

For the case, not too familer with it.

Cooling, Hyper 212+ from amazon is a great HS for a first timer wanting to learn to overcloc. Decent and very affordable.

lol, a 60GB SSD PURELY for caching. Needless to say i lold.

Also id like to know where youre getting all this money, cuz im one year older and id say at least 15% of my rig was payed for by generous donations by my family, and teh rest i was overworked and underpaid for.

Id say wait for the bulldozer.

Hell yes I am 13 and next year when I am legal to work (in CT its 14), I'll be slowly paying off my computer debt.

I'm also 16, but unlike you I am poor and couldn't afford half of that stuff, as you can see in my sig rig. It all looks great, and I do agree with the idea of unlocking an HD 6950. As for cooling, if you want to do some overclocking you should consider water cooling.

your looking too high on the power supply, get a high quality 850 like the corsair ax850 or the seasonic one
