Crysis 2 Low GPU Utilization Win7 x64

Anybody knows why this is? I'm using a q9400@3.7ghz and ATI 5850 OC'd to 936/1116.

When i first launch the game and play, i'm just getting around 55% GPU utilization while my CPU is just around 65% utilized across all 4 cores. This started happening when i updated the game to DX11 and hi-res textures.

Now i have a workaround for it! Here goes. While in-game and having the utilization i described above, I do an ALT-Enter to go to window mode, wait a few seconds, then back again to Full screen mode. Afterwards, my GPU shots up to 99-100% until i close the game and run it again. This leads me to believe that nothing in my hardware setup is a bottleneck. Something that has to do with the OS's resource management.

I want a permanent fix. This happens in TDU2 also and Witcher.

Anybody?

witcher 2 is a BAD CPU limited game .. wonder if you're playing part one or two ?

Is your OC helping your utilzation ?
Run a bench w/ and w/o your GPU OC and see what the overall usage stats are on the GPU and CPU ..

IF the GPU usage increases .. it's prolly not a cpu bottleneck , if the GPU usage doesn't increase, then you know that the CPU is bottlenecking smile.gif

Do realize that the ram could also be bottlenecking ?? Hmm, you probably have slow ddr2 ? Get better ram / upgrade to a better overall system -- new CPU , new ram , smile.gif and that alone will boost your GPU usage and your FPS in turn.

ALSO , C2 is crap-illy optimized.
Don't expect great shakes,
and everything does not depend on how much of your cpu is getting used.
My amd phenom2 x4 @ 4 GHz doesn't get fully used by C2 and Witcher 2 , but the same gpu on an i7 system performs so much better

AMD cards are currently FUBAR when it comes to crysis 2 dx11. Supposedly the 11.7 drivers whenever they come out will have performance fixes for it. The reason for the witcher 2 running the way it does is almost certainly a cpu bottleneck however.

i tried Process Lasso's game mode and it didn't change anything. i also used driver sweeper to uninstall and then reinstalled Catalyst 11.7, again no change.

I reset the clocks of my VC to default and just got 8% improvement in utilization. From 54% to 62%. What's causing this? RAM? possibly, i have DDR2 @ 980mhz.
