Good question! When I look at all these Mac, including the macbook that I'm using to type this posting, there really isn't any eject button. That somehow led me to believe this has become an industry norm, or the standard of manufacturing quality has risen so high that there will NEVER be a need for emergency mechanical disc disposal..

Oh well, you learn something new everyday...

If you click on in my computer it should open, or at least it does with mine.

There are holes in most slot drives. The laptop needs to be powered when trying to eject a CD from a slot drive. The emergency eject is electrical, not mechanical like regular drives.

No, Macs still get stuck CD's in the slot drive. You have to press and hold the mouse button when you power on the computer to eject the CD.

You powered it on and poked a paperclip in it? You asked it nicely? You said "open sesame"?

ARGH!! Nobody reads! The rig he has the drive on does not have an OS installed, therefore no 'My Computer' option.

Guess I missed that bit

Paperclip in the small hole should do the trick...

Or a boot CD of any version of linux.

You also missed the part where he tried that already.

Only option now is to take the drive apart.

Not sure how this would work, considering that there is a CD already stuck in the drive.

I'd start the machine and go into the BIOS, and set the boot order differently so that Memtest doesn't keep borking the system. Even if the boot bombs, one may still be able to use the eject button on the keyboard, if the system has one that isn't just driven by some software driver.

On a few drives, the emergency eject isn't a button, but rather, a way of turning a cogged wheel that turns the eject mechanism. In those cases, you will need to do it like, a dozen times or more.
