Help me Choose a new Cpu Cooler! :)

Thread Starter
So i need a new cooler before i feel comfortable keeping my cpu @ 4Ghz 24/7. Idle is 47C and under load it gets to 62C so it's @ 3.6Ghz 1.4v for now. Prefer for it to be from NEWEGG, blue lights are a plus. Also will my memory still run in dual-channel in slots 2 and 4 if the cooler takes over the first slot? Right now they are in 1 and 3.

Thanks!

My V6GT cools really well. It also depends on ambient temps. IIRC (I'm not at home right now), I think at around 24°C, mine reaches around 47-50C while folding. It barely obstructs the first DIMM slot on my mobo. You can set the LEDs for blue, red, or a weird mix of both. I dunno if they'll still run in dual channel but at least on mine i have them in 2 and 4 and they're working fine.

If you don't want water-cooling, you could try a Zalman heatsink. I have this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118019

It has blue lights and it keeps my 1090t (oc'd to 3.7 GHz) at 22C at idle. I haven't seen it go past 40C while running prime95.

Right here. I paid a bit more since I'm in china but I think it's worth every penny (or yuan in this case) I paid.

I actually just replaced my Zalman 9700NT. It kept my Q6600 at idle temps of 50C and load temps of 70C.

I replaced the Zalman with the Corsair H60 closed loop water cooler and boy am I impressed with the results. Not only did it improve my temps by 10C but it is whisper quiet.

If you are interested in the 9700NT I will sell you my old one for $25 + shipping used it all of 6 months.

not sure how well a d14 would fit into his case

case: 7.5 inches width
d14: 6.3 inches
mobo+standoff cpu *about* 1 inch

7.3 inches if he had no side fan on his case

so yah id suggest a d14 sense on paper it fits
