LG 47LK520

VS

Samsung LN46D630

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN46D630-46-Inch-1080p-120Hz/dp/B004SNA992/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1310976873&sr=1-1"]Amazon.com: Samsung LN46D630 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV (Black): Electronics[/ame]

***The LN46D630 doesn't have the cool looking stand (clear plastic).. that's "fake" and they just use the plain boring black stand with these models (false advert?)

Still, W/c one do you guys, think is better?

Any ideas where to get these for lower prices than MSRPs or what they usually go for?

Can you guys recommend anything better? (~800 bucks)?

LG makes a better product. I work at a satellite dealer who has been servicing TV's for 30 years. Everything from the old CRT's, to projection, to plasma/LCD/LED. He swears by LG, and I take his word for it.

As for finding it cheaper, Amazon usually has the best prices. Poke around a bit, but with Amazon at least you know you won't get ripped off.

EDIT: a google shopping search still showed Amazon with the lowest price. I also recommend getting the extended warranty with it. It's usually another $70 or so for a 4 year warranty. Better safe for 4 years than screwed after 2 1/2 from a manufacturing defect (think it comes with 1 yr. factory warranty).

LG.

With Samsung, you are paying for the name a little, and they aren't any better. Our old tv was a Samsung, our current is an lg and it was definitely worth the move. In fact we have 3 lg TVs now.

Out of curiosity why aren't you considering a plasma? Also, Im not sure if your going to be using this as a secondary monitor but if you are most tvs say 1920x1080p res but they aren't. They might be a slightly smaller res not supported by a computer so the image looks like doody. It took me 3 tvs from bestbuy b4 i found one that supported true 1920x1080p.

Plasma = chances of intermittent Image Rentetions and possible burn ins... Why take the chance? Even on the latest models, there isn't a clear voice about having none of these problems..

Although, Plasmas are too tempting for the price:

51" 1080p Plasma (Samsung PN51D550C1) + 2

IDK if it's such an awesome move for a first time buyer.

WHat models last 3 models did you take before you found a real 1080p TV? IIRC, one should look at the native RES.

Also, I am in for the 120Hz.. Samsung has a newer tech called Clear Motion Rate? How does that compare to the older Auto Motion Plus and LG's TruMotion?

LG is confirmed to have Panel Lottery.. (you can get juked to a VA panel).. Does the D630 or C630 lineup of Samsung have Panel Lottery as well?

Please, what extended warranty is this?

Is this the LG Premium Care?:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=service+net+tv+warranty&x=0&y=0"]Amazon.com: service net tv warranty[/ame]

Or another? Directly from Amazon? (Amazon's own warranty thing?)

What is it called? +4 more years of extra warranty aside from MFR Warranty for around 80 bucks you say?

Need more details please <3

As long as you hide your taskbar and have a clean desktop that changes every 2-3 minutes you'll be fine. I've owned 2 different plasmas in the last 3 years and I have never had a problem with image retention. As far as the models I don't know at the moment. Ill take the time to post links on the models as soon as i get home. I'm aware of looking at the native res but trust me when I say they lie. All the tvs I purchased said native 1920x1080p res which they weren't.

In my experience plasmas are vastly superior in picture quality involving deeper blacks and wider range of colors than any lcd I have ever seen

I have the lesser model of that LG, i think, still 47inch but only 60Hz. I use it mostly for console and watching telly and looks good. I've started using it for my rig as i don't have a monitor atm and games don't seem any less good looking.
