I'm considering either buying two more u2410's and put all three monitors in portrait for a resolution of 3600x1920, or just buying one 30" u3011 for a resolution of 2560x1600. The three u2410's would have 69% more resolution as opposed to the 30".

30" 4.1 Million pixels

U2410's 6.9 Million pixels

Here are the pros and cons I see:

U2410's
Pros: A lot more pixels for a lot higher quality display.
Cons: Costs a lot more ($500). Two big black bezels infront of your face while you're trying to play a game.

U3011
Pros: $500 cheaper. Complete, seamless display without any bezels.
Cons: 69% less resolution, so a lot less image quality.

Which would you go for?

For gaming, definitely a single 30in. But, why go portrait for the 3? Having them in standard with nVidia surround would be pretty nice for gaming.

If I had that kind of money, I'd get the 30" and be happy with a beast monitor.

Sitting on the Dell U2311H atm, thinking of getting another 2 of them for triple display because I'm low budget and can't afford the 30".

Too big, I tried the 27" display once. Made competitive gaming like CS/COD/BC2 difficult because you can't see the entire screen in relative focus at once, you miss movement and lose aiming accuracy on ur borders when you snap around. 24" would be my max.

And at the sizes your talking about, your gonna need more than a single 480 TBH.

If you sit a corresponding distance away from the 27" as you sit from a 24", you wouldn't have that problem. If you sat the same distance from the 27" as you did the 24", then everything would look weird like you said.

Oh yeah, and I want to do the portrait setup as opposed to landscape because it will act as a single screen with a ratio of about 16:8, except it will be ultra high res. I'm just worried about bezels.

I just recieved my HpZr30w and I just have one word to describe it .... INCREDIBLE !

I moved from a samsung Syncmaster Rose 27" 1080p and man that screen was a beauty but this baby just sits in another level, no comparison.

I play BF:BC2 and the level of detail now seen is sooo good, I have no problems or whatsoever while playing or looking at the entire map, I highly recomend the 2560x1600 if you're able to afford one.

You will need a 2nd graphics card for surround (since it is only 2 displays per card for Nvidia). A single 30" is nice.

A single 30 with a 20" monitor in portrait

Didn't work for me playing fast paced fps games, with heads in dark shadowed locations only a few pixels wide. Was too much forward and back and alot of losing.

To each their own, some people want color accuracy and size. I personally prefer 120hz and no more than 23-24".
