How much power does a dedicated physX card draw

Thread Starter
Would the thing be drawing the same type of power as normal use or does the power draw fall dramatically when a card is only doing physX (even under load)? Trying to decide whether I should get a new psu. Ordered a 6970 and want to keep my gtx 260 c216 for physX since it has a lifetime warranty. I'm currently running a corsair 650tx which I'm not sure will be able to handle this if the physX card actually draws close to normal power levels.

Oh your PSU will be more than enough to handle both cards without any issues. It could probably handle 2 6970's without too much hassle. I know it can handle 2 GTX570's because i've had 2 in my machine on my old HX650.

Yes, a 650w PSU. Go ask pheadrus. They are really good PSU's, especially the new TX650V2's that have come out.

Just to clarify here

http://www.overclock.net/power-supplies/1045231-phaedrus-quickndirty-psu-calculator.html

Go look at the SLi/Xfire section and then Class 3, the 6950 is in there for xfire which is a 650w psu.

I had my GTX570 at stock clocks just to make sure. But it took it fine.
