I would rather see random weather for maps. Heavy rain fall would be nice addition.

I agree, there's definitely going to be a lack of dinosaurs.

The last time I was in an earthquake, none of that happened.

Which can cause a huge flashflood and landslide. Same dynamic, my friend.

As for earthquakes, bring it on. Nothing like a little shake-up to the blazing battles of multiplayer. Who knows, it might turn in someone's favor.

Earthquakes and Dinosaurs.

You put this in, DICE, and I'm buying 10 copies of BF3.

I think that's why they kept saying 'technically possible. Would be cool though.
That was a "Hey, I didn't read the article" post, they were nerfing it from full destruction because for some reason everyone assumed it'd be that, even though its pretty obvious that'd be crap because the map would be leveled in 5 minutes and the rest of the round would be spawn camping with a sniper rifle.

what? the beta is out in a month and the game releases in October...
They have the earthquake code already (For the SP campaign) so they obviously have other stuff to finish in that month before they playtest MP earthquakes to see if it actually is fun or not. (Here's where I'm betting the "nerfed" destruction came from, they tested with destruction on everything and it was boring so they decided to not make it like that)

Well, it seems they never played BFBC2, or played it on consoles because the best games i've played were against medic squads basically reviving everyone around. It's like fighting a zombie army, but's fun as hell. Having some medics while pushing a rush is probably the most beneficial job you can do for the team.

I bet everyone has seen the situation where a medic earns best player+best squad without kills but heal+res.

Sadly i do not leave out the possibility of servers where everyone is a sniper or an engineer. I don't mind having Assault and Medic together, but i did liked them separately. Oh well.
That's the point though, it means that instead of medics and assault class pushing in, you have them both as the same team (So the medics don't die all the time if they're crap at the game or you get flanked) and the best medics still get to shine simply because they'll be healing like crazy still and killing like crazy in addition.

I already was going to upgrade from my GTX 275, but then it died and I worked out I won't have the cash for a decent GPU until way past BF3 is out.

Yay, trying to play on what is essentially an overclocked E-350 IGP ftw.

It will most likely be a patch of some sort. It's crunch time at DICE, not sure why they are even chatting about this stuff right now.
You'd be surprised how much they could do in 60 or even 30 days, it's probably a "possibility" due to them having a list of features they'd rather get done first, as well as play-testing those features to get good balance and work through the bugs.

They wouldn't level the map with this though, they'd probably destroy a few buildings and maybe open a fault line as well as momentarily pretty much stop people fighting.

Umm, who cares about a stupid earthquake making it into the game, yet they had to nerf destruction.

Plus if they did put it in, it be stupidly scripted and be some dumb half rats job that DICE did in BC2 at end of rounds (missiles firing and not blowing up a ship...) etc etc.

maybe just me, but did people forget about Japan already? And there earthquake in march? There daily earthquakes now.. idk i dont think i would like to see people die from a earthquake in a game. might just be me, but 20,000+ people died almost instantly, and 10,000+ still missing.. ya no thanks, think of something better than a stupid scripted earthquake
Read the article next time.

They're not nerfing destruction at all, it's just not going to be the massive PhysX extravaganza everyone thought it was (Which I have no idea why...That'd be boring in matches that go longer than 5 minutes.)

It might not be easier actually, considering they already have the earthquake code in the SP campaign, they could just make a marker for certain buildings to be able to be destroyed in an earthquake and use an if statement to make an earthquake happen randomly and hopefully rarely.

All in all, less work than making new textures for dynamic weather (eg. Rain, clouds, sunny, etc) and working out how to make it affect the players.

You work at DICE? Wow.

How do we know it's in beta? How do we know they aren't already working on a 1st day patch? How do we know they've even finished the MP yet?

As long as a couple criteria are met with this in multiplayer, I'm completely OK with it.

1. Occurance is completely random. Almost like a RNG is running in the background every 5 seconds or so, and it has a slim chance of happening (1 out of 500 or something?)

2. The effects don't have to be COMPLETELY random. But somewhere along the lines of 5-10 scripted breaks and deformations so that everytime it does happen one side doesn't always get the advantage.

Definitely sounds cool though
