So at Full HD or higher res VRAM bottleneck would be BIG with just 1GB of VRAM per GPU..

I recommend 2x GTX480 in SLI for the best results..

CF HD6970 would be nice too if AMD improves tessellation performance in Crysis 2 (if they haven't already)..

CHEERS..
Not helping. You haven't read my post. If you had, you wouldn't suggest 2x GTX 480, since I've said, the budget is already stretched with 2x 6950s, and we will ABSOLUTELY NOT buy anything from the GTX 400 series. We might not even go nVidia at all.

All I want to know is about a single, unlocked, OC'd 2Gb. HD6950.

GTX 580 averaged 50 fps. but during smoke the fps will be much lower than that. Also this benchmark may give you some idea on the overall performance on the other single cards.
Actually cards averaging 30s or 40s are not in safe spot at all.
I get 35 fps average but during huge battles my fps will drop to 15 or so.

I was going for Bulldozer. Not the Phenom IIs. I highly doubt that a 6 or 8-core Bulldozer will bottleneck 2x 6950.

I'm aware of the 2500k, thank you. I got one myself. As I have said a few times in this thread, we WILL go with the 2500k IF, and only IF, BD is going to be worse than expected.
http://guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-460-sli-review/9

No you don't get 60FPS at max settings.

Please stop spreading rubbish it seams you are making demands impossible and making stupid claims.

On that page 480 SLI gets 53FPS average.

As a former owner of the 6950, I suggest you go crossfire. For whatever reason, AMD cards nosedive whenever they play Crysis 2. If CF isn't an option, GTX 580 would be a good choice

Then it's your loss..

GTX580 or a GTX480 would spank even HD6970 in Crysis 2 DX11..

As far as I know ATI HD69xx CF performs poor in Crysis 2 w/ DX11..

Ive been playing Crysis 2 with 1080p, max settings, high res textures, DX11 for awhile now and i've rarely dipped below 30fps. Im not sure what my average is, but ill guess its around 40-45. Also, the Vram usage is maxed out most of the time. It's is definitely playable though, and a lot of fun. It probably doesn't make a difference, but my GTX 570 is slightly OCed, 772 core(stock is 732) and 1931 memory(stock is 1900).

So assuming the CPU won't give you issues, and you unlock and OC the 6950, then that system should run Crysis 2 maxed with good frame rates. Oh, and make sure you get the 2Gb version.

Assuming it's driver related, then you should check some benchmarks so you can see if it's playable.

Well, I only know what I see when my friends play the game. The benches could use other components as well. But thanks for the input.

GTX 580 and above is not in question. Cannot afford it.

Read above answer. I'm not claiming that a single HD6950 can max it out. I'm only using Crysis 2 as a reference point. My friend won't be playing the game, but it would've been nice if it could be maxed out with that card. My brother has an unlocked 6950, and his single card performs just as well as my 2x GTX 460s.

But you'd known that if you'd read my post.

Yeah, that's why I only used Crysis 2 as a REFERENCE POINT.

Of course it's my loss, but if there isn't money for a GTX 580, then how would I magically get them? If I had money for a GTX 580, you'd think that I was gonna go for a i7-2600k. Then I wouldn't be posting any of this, and certainly not in the AMD/ATI section.

Yeah, Radeons are bad in Crysis 2. That's why it's only an EFFING reference point.

Good to hear someone with a reasonable answer. But if your slightly OC'd 570 can run it no problems, then this 2Gb. unlocked and OC'd 6950 would do great Yeah, it's driver related. Have seen it many times in here

Hopefully AMD gets the drivers sorted out, then that unlocked and OCed 2Gb 6950 should run Crysis 2 maxed without going below 30FPS. I'm guessing it will average ~45FPS.

Ill be finishing the second half of the campaign soon, so maybe ill post my average FPS using FRAPS.

I did read your post you said 2x460's max's Metro 2033 out and you said your friends single 580 does.

I provided unrefutable proof that you are lying about your 460's maxing the game out.
