Would this run Crysis 2 maxed out? - Page 8

You should get 2 6950s tbh, 1 GPUs doesn't cut it with Crysis 2 DX11, High res textures, maxed out.

At those settings my 570 @ 900 core (about a 6970) struggles to get smooth gameplay

EDIT: runs at about 39-41 FPS, definitely playable, but could be better. 6970 would be OK, but 6950 without unlocked would struggle.

VRAM usage is around 1197MB

So you will go with single 6950 2 GB?
According to guru3d HD6950 got only 33 fps which is as fast as a GTX 470. (@1080p)
It might be playable most of the time but with occasional dips in framerates.
Also 2xHD6870 performed better in Crysis 2. I remember in this thread someone said HD6870s will struggle in this game but this benchmark proven it wrong. since your 2x GTX 460s won't struggle with 1 GB of ram then 6870s also won't struggle.
2xHD6870s got 55 fps Vs. HD6950 got only 33 fps. thats 67% increase.
So either ways HD6870s will do the trick or 2 GB 2xHD6950 for more future proof because of the increased vram.

Dude a stock GTX 570 is equal to HD6970.. CLICK HERE (note: this is Crysis 2 DX9)

Your OC'd GTX570 @ 900MHz core is much faster that a HD6970 and even a bit faster than a stock GTX580..

I would agree with getting two GPU's, because future DX11 games won't run maxed with one.

You might also want to look at how the 11.7 drivers from AMD affect performance for Crysis2. We all know we're getting crap performance with AMD gpus for Crysis2 (DX11+Hi-Res) compared to other games and the 11.7 are rumored to help boost some performance.

I DON'T lie. And I certainly don't like being accused of lying.

I mentioned before that my 2x 460 max out Metro 2033 DX11 WITH STUTTERING which means I need a patch for the game. Many dual/triple GPU systems suffer from stuttering in Metro 2033.

Here's the setup of my two mentioned friends with GTX 580:

Friend 1:
Case: Silverstone Fortress FT02
Mobo: Gigabyte UD5 P67
CPU: i7-2600k (ran it at stock at the time)
CPU-cooler: Antec Kühler 920
RAM: 8Gb. Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz. CL9
GPU: MSi GTX 580 Lightning @ stock
HDD: 1x 1Tb. Samsung Spinpoint F3
ODD: Sony Optiarc DVD burner
PSU: Silverstone Strider 1000W

Friend 2:
Case: Silverstone Raven RV02-E
Mobo: Gigabyte UD5 P67
CPU: i7-2600k (ran it at stock at the time)
CPU-cooler: Antec Kühler 920
RAM: 8Gb. Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz. CL8
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 580 OC
HDD: 1x 1Tb. WD Caviar Black
ODD: Sony Optiarc DVD burner
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W

My system is in my sig.

And I can asure you, I am not lying. I am only telling people here what I know, and what I have seen. My friends can approve it for me. If you don't believe me, I actually don't care.

Yeah, I know dual GPU setup is probably best at this point. The 6950s would obviously be the better choice if going dual.

Thanks for your input, and 30-40 fps in Crysis 2 Maxed out w/DX11 and Hi-Res pack is great for us

I'll try and speak to my friend about dual 6950s or if he won't then either dual 6870s or a single 6950, which he can CFX later on.

No, they use about same amount of power in games, actually HD6970 runs hotter and is louder than a GTX570..

GTX570 scale great, have better drivers and is more powerful in DX11 tessellation..

And on top of all that GTX570 is better overclocker..

Downfall of a reference design GTX570 is weak VRM's so I would only go for non-reference card with upgraded VRM's (6Phases or more)..

What? The 6970s scale better and have great drivers(had more problems with my drivers when I had nVidia). The 570 runs hotter in almost all cases, uses more power, and I don't care about sound, why I have headphones. Also don't have a VRAM limit.
