The only way I could prove it is for my friends to show you, and if I'm not mistaken, you wouldn't believe me anyway.

So would you please just stop answering in this thread anymore? If you or any other don't believe me, I don't care. You weren't even helping anyway.

Anthraxinsoup, I don't get you're posts :S

I really am grateful for all of you who have helped me already Most of you know who they are Thanks!

Hope to get even more clear on the matter!

As of now my choises are:

1. 1x GTX 570 -> only if my friend really wants nVidia, which he does not
2. 1x HD6950 w/unlock -> if no unlock then 1x 6970
3. 2x 6870 -> price is really great!
4. 2x 6950 -> might be stretching the budget, but have to convey with him, when he gets home from Italy.

Out of the question:

nVidia:
1. GTX 4xx series
2. GTX 560/560Ti
3. GTX 580
4. GTX 590

AMD:
1. HD66xx series
2. HD67xx series
3. HD6850
4. HD6990

No ATI cards.

Think we got it cleared up. People I don't consider helping will not get answers from me from now on. Don't feed the troll...

Thanks again for all who helped so far!

Yeah, but don't you contradict yourself? I mean, first you say the 570 runs hotter and consumes more power. In the next post, you say the 6970 runs hotter and is louder?

Ive got an hour, so ill play through the whole chapter that i just started, and log the FPS with FRAPS. Ill try my best to be aggressive as possible with my game play so that the FPS drops to a realistic low. The clocks for the GTX 570 will be the same as i mentioned before. Also, ill only record between checkpoints so that i can take a break if needed.

The GTX 570 and the HD 6970 are pretty much level at 1080P. If you start doing multi-monitors or 1600P than the HD 6970 is better. At 1080P it's 50/50 in almost every reviews.

As a former amd/ati I will say an intel SB like 2500k or 2600k will def show you a performance increase and just roll nvidia with the card the 570 does mildly outperform the 6950 @ 1080p + you get physx with nvidia. and with the ati/nvidia with noise/ power consumption it is really the brand, my GTX 570 I can't even hear unless I press my ear against my case and at low temps. Either way after experiences both amd/intel and amd/nvidia I will choose intel/nvidia from now on.

Ill be honest, i didn't play very aggressive. Mostly because the two missions i played had a Pinger(really hard boss), and it scares the crap outta me. Plus, im playing on Veteran. So i took my time with it, and slowly but surely took it down. So the results are for "smart" gameplay. I also had DS3 Tool(play with PS3 controller) and MSI Afterburner running(and OSD) while i was playing. Luckily, the next mission starts out easy, so ill do a test with aggressive gameplay. I played until the first checkpoint, and i only had one instance of lag(~25fps). The average FPS seemed to be ~38.

The start of the easy mission gave me an average of 39.767FPS, with a min and max of 28 and 49. I could have been a little more aggressive, but it is veteran, and i nearly died.

Yeah, multi monitor setup is AMD win

You wouldn't choose Intel if you could not afford it.

The GTX 570 is probably ruled out, because my friend tends to like AMD far more. He used to be an Intel/nVidia guy, but not anymore. I tend to lean towards the red side as well. Even if my favorite color is green

Anyway, I wasn't in need of help for a Sandy Bridge/nVidia setup. Got that myself, and know how it runs If BD turns out to suck balls, then we'll go Intel, but probably still AMD for GPU

Oooh, my bad Well, noise is kind of an issue, but under gaming it's meh... I mean, headset + noise from PC = can't hear it

Damn, that looks really good! Around 30 fps is great for me and my friend

Only one drop in FPS is nothing I would yell about... I mean, I have lived with worse But I really appreciate your help, and it might clear it up for the "doubters" in here, hehe Keep it up!

BUMP again

Take a look at what I posted before:

As of now my choises are:

1. 1x GTX 570 -> only if my friend really wants nVidia, which he does not
2. 1x HD6950 w/unlock -> if no unlock then 1x 6970
3. 2x 6870 -> price is really great!
4. 2x 6950 -> might be stretching the budget, but have to convey with him, when he gets home from Italy.

Out of the question:

nVidia:
1. GTX 4xx series
2. GTX 560/560Ti
3. GTX 580
4. GTX 590

AMD:
1. HD66xx series
2. HD67xx series
3. HD6850
4. HD6990

If he only wants a single card it'll be an HD6950 unlocked, or a HD6970.

If he wants dual setup, I'll push as hard as I can for dual HD6950s since that's the best bang for the buck card.

If he won't spend money on dual 6950s, I could always try with dual 6870s, although they have poor DX11 and multi monitor support than the 6950 cards.
