These Zotac 2GB cards are $120 each after rebate, and in SLI 460s actually edge a single 580 in most cases.
^^^This is the card I was going to suggest.

Minimum imo 1.5gb, recommended 2gb, anything higher is a plus. Sli/Crossfire recommended for needed power. Most games that allow you to run three monitors will give you the option to choose a lower resolution (than 5760x1080 or 3240x1920) to help with fps in the most demanding games. Also, lower your quality and aa in these demanding games. Older and not-so-demanding games shouldn't have any trouble maxed out w/ a pair of good cards.

I couldn't max out Metro on three 470s, now I can reach about 90-95% max settings with my current setup. Older games like lost planet have no troubles cranking out 80-90fps maxed out @ 3240x1920 (three monitors in portrait mode). Good luck

For all who are interested, I just found this thread on another forum showing a single overclocked 5770 gets an average of 40fps at a resolution a little higher than 5760x1080, max detail, no AA.

Edit: That's for Assassin's Creed II, which I assume is equally stressful when compared to Brotherhood since they look the same.
