Personally, I like VII better than VIII but I still LOVE VIII. Thats another discussion and just a side note I wanted to make.
Mainly, you thought that Hope
was the only character in the game believable? Holy crap. Thats like a first I've ever heard someone that actually said something positive about him. You did say what I think you said right?
Other than that, I agree wholeheartedly.
Hope was a coward, stupid, revenge hungry, complained a lot, and depended on everyone.. Thing is, he was also a kid.. Hope was an annoying character that I really didn't like, but he was believeable. Hope would have been more tolerable if the rest of the cast were more well rounded, but that wasn't the case.
Sazh was the best balance of this.. He really wasn't suited for the task presented to him, he was afriad and lost confidence at several points, but he persevered and overcame fear when he was needed. That seems more like an actual person than some one who's constantly like "this will definitely work out I PROMISE NO MATTER WHAT!", which is what snow did all the time.
Sazh seemed like an actual person and not something ripped out of an anime and pasted into a video game.
Lightning's type as a lead has been overdone, and she was way more bland than Squall and Cloud. Vanille was obnoxious and I did my best to tune her out and I don't remember much about Fang. I really wanted Lightning to just flatout execute Snow at several points in the story.
