Great Gaming Headset - Page 3

the JVC's, AudioTechnica's, and Seinheissers that were suggested in this thread + zalman clip on mic will be right around your $100 budget and give you much better sound/voice than gaming headsets at this price.

I am far from an audiophile. I used to use gaming headsets and I asked what a good gaming headset would be and gave a budget. The people in this section of the forum recommended me some headphones with the zalman clip on mic that were the same price as the headsets I was looking at (i had owned before but wanted other suggestions) I decided to go with the headphones and clip on Mic and the sound quality was night and day difference than the headset. It was so much clearer and better sound quality.

It is a valid option to recommend the headphone + clip on mic over a headset. If it stays within budget and will perform just as well if not better than a headset. Flaming others for offering a completely comparable solution is just not right. Now if the people were suggesting things outside of the given budget and did was not a comparable solution to what the OP asked for, then yes the people offering the suggestions are in the wrong. But this was not the case in this thread.

I recommend the G930, by no means audiophile headphones... although, to get into the "audiophile" range... 300+ budget is needed.

I changed my mind. I don't care if it is a headset or headphones w/ mic now. Can I get any for $80 or under.

Not at all true. There is no true "audiophile" range. Audiophile is simply the best sound one can get for their own budget. HD 555 and AD700 are "audiophile" for less than $100.

For less than $80, look at the JVC RX900 with a clip-on mic.

@ $59.00
@ $9.06

Total = $68.06 without shipping. I highly doubt shipping on the headphones or the mic will be over $10. If you have a .edu account you can sign up for free Amazon Prime (free 2 day shipping)

You can also do some searching around for zalman clip on mics and find them cheaper than on amazon. The headphones are about the price you will find anywhere else.

I'll throw these into the mix.

The guys over at head-fi seem to think these are the greatest cans at their price point.

And this is the set of cans that I own.

These are great studio monitor headphones and I use them to play Halo and TF2.

I have heard good things about the Superlux headphones. But when I searched for them a few weeks ago they weren't on Amazon yet.

Because that "something else" performs the exact same function but with better quality? I know some people wish to be the marketer's dream, but when you can get better sound and mic quality for the same price, why not?

Seems as though somebody is suffering from buyer's remorse related to a "gaming" headset purchase.

The JVC HARX900 (or maybe 700s if you have time to do a little modding and are tight on cash) plus the zalman clip on are probably going to be OP's best price/performance option.
