Selling 580 what shld i do next? - Page 2

If you're planning on going SLI, keep the reference cards - non reference ones do worse in SLI as they exhaust hot air into the case and heat each other up, while reference cards exhaust hot air outside of the case.

One gtx 580 is plenty for a single 1080p monitor, probably more than enough. Two gtx 580's is so overkill it's not even funny. The only point of more than one gtx 580 is if you wanted to do triple screens, or play at resolutions of 2560x1440/1600.

For the one monitor you should keep your card and get an accelero extreme - I did that a month ago and it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get my temps over 55c, actually impossible.

I have it set on 70% fans and it is totally silent and 40-45c colder than the stock heatsink.

If you are keeping your card, going SLI with a lightning wont be worth it. If the lightning can hit 920-950 but the reference is limited to 910 then you are stuck at 910.

But if you are concerned about temps then you shouldn't go SLI. The top card will be even hotter than it is today, regardless of the cooler.

I play at 2560x1440 and my single 580 is enough for me, with the AXP I have increased the OC from 850-870 to 910-930 depending on what I am doing.

If heat is your concern, getting two card will only add to it.

I personally don't have any experience with a 590 but I'm pretty sure you will be getting hotter temps then you have now.

Are you not satisfied with the performance of a single 580 that you need another? You have a flagship card now, wait 6 months and grab a 6 series if you think you will need/want it.

If you just want to upgrade for the sake of upgrading (you've come to the right place) - your problem is you already have the best single card, so your options are another 580 or a 590.

I had the same issue but am pretty happy I went with the AXP. I also lucked out in that since it is a triple slot card now I cannot be temped to SLI.

Good luck, but I think you already have your mind set on upgrading. If that's the case might as well just go for broke and grab a 590 and put it underwater.
