GTX285 cooler on GTX480?

Hi

Im struggling to find an aircooler here in NZ for the gtx 480 however i have seen so many AXP coolers spec'ed for gtx285 etc.

http://www.ifocus.co.nz/Cooling/VGA+...+-+Retail.html

Whats the difference and would this fit on my GTX480?

Im assuming its just the ram and vrm sinks that will differ (im hoping the gpu placement is the same)

Im currently running SLI 480s and card 1 runs about 90 and card 2 about 85 running BFBC2 for a few hours.

Cheers

go water cooled. my 480 sli was like 55 on 1st card and 62 on bottom card. mcw 60 and 80 on them , Just over the cores. I dont think the air cooler will work. gpu difference in spots.
They do make 480 air coolers. but if u got cpu under water make a good loop an add cpu an gpu to it and good to go .

thanks mate

i might have to bite the bullet and invest in a watercooling loop.

I was thinking to save cost for now just to build a small 2x 120 radiator loop just for the 2 cards then build up from there.

Do you have any fins on your vrm and ram or does the general air flow through the case keep these cool enough.

Cheers

sine you have SLI...

you could look at my setup/mod in my sig and see if that is a good option for you...

otherwise a water cooling setup is always great

I cant find this cooler anywhere in nz or aus, bring in from the u.s is going to cost to much. However there are so many for the gtx285, i was hoping someone had done some mod to get it to fit.

Nice set up by the way

I THINK the AXP for the 285 has just bracket on it. If that is the case, then you order a bracket to fit your card and your golden.

This is the kind of response i was praying for

What do you mean by bracket mate?

Do you mean to gear with the sinks?

Hey mate another fellow kiwi
To be perfectly honest, I have a feeling that hunting down a proper bracket for that would be a mission, spesh being in nz. Brackets are needed so that the holes on the gtx 480 match the one of ur aftermarket cooler and bolt on.

My mate is selling a watercooling loop for bloody cheap atm and hes a reliable dude. Hes offering a 360 xspc rad, some yate loons, an xspc pump/res and some sick tubing all for 300 dollars NZ. The fans alone are worth almost half that so its a mega bargain. PM me if ur interested.

you can order the cooler and the sinks straight from the AC site...

that is what i did...

also...

you will notice that the Heatsink is raised a bit on the 480 version..

and it isn't on the 285 version...

you can't fit the VRM/VRAM sinks on the 480 when you have the 285 version of the cooler...

i went through this process myself
