Mobo Died, Replacement Time!

Thread Starter
Something, somewhere along the way, went terribly wrong.
Was attempting installation of a network card..Boom Mobo stopped working.
Luckily, it is not my main comp. and all I really used it for was hosting Minecraft and Terraria servers while using iTunes occasionally.
I've put it off for a while now, but now I'm depressed and need to play MINECRAFT!

So enough, here is the sitch...
I'm not in the mood to blast down tons of money, just trying to rebuild to power a decent Minecraft server.

A) Replace just the motherboard
or
B) Upgrade, but only just enough

Motherboard: http://www.esaitech.com/commerce/cat...duct_id=101296
Processor: AMD Phenom 9500 Processor HD9500WCGDBOX - 2.20GHz, 4 x 512KB Cache, 1800MHz (3600 MT/s) FSB, Agena, Quad-Core
RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ
GPU: PVT98GYDLU GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Case: Rosewill R6426-P BK ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Harddrive: Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Disk Drive: SAMSUNG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223Q LightScribe Support - OEM
Network Card: INTEL Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter - PCIExpress
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 500 Watt PSU

Trying customer service @ 812-282-2787 and it keeps ringing forever or going busy.
My guess it it's outta warranty anyways! So, to replace it would cost bout 120$. Any Suggestions?

Thanks <3

Wow that is one ancient pricey mobo, I just built the gf a facebook machine and it was under 400$ all new, i3 duel sandy, matx asrock mobo, 4GB gskill ripjaws, 500GB WD blue, etc
been in this position many times and every time I patch up an old rig i look at it later and want to slap myself for not spending a little more and getting newer better parts. I would grab a new proc, mobo, and RAM if I was in your position the price of new stuff is just to appealing to not.

Hmmmm, I can reuse the Case, GPU, Harddrive, Disk Drive, and Network Card.
As long as those are not giving me problems also.. ha
OPS I forgot Power Supply! Thermaltake TR2 500 Watt PSU! I'll reuse that also.

So switching over to Intel, no biggie.
Any suggestions for cheaps mobos good at running memory intensive programs such as writing/reading Minecraft server all day? lmao

Edit: Just in-case it matters, were talking about 12 people give or take online at one time. The internet can handle it, but I need to make sure my hardware doesn't give out.. Why I invested in a network card!

Pretty sure any 1155 socket mobo will be more then enough with the new chipset and DDR3 it HAS to be better then your older rig.

WhoaWhoa.. I just had a breakthrough!
I got some RAM, new MOBO, and CPU ready to be ordered off of newegg, but!

I decided to try and power my computer one last time (after being idle for bout a month with what I thought a dead mobo) and it beeped, posted, and started to run!
It wasn't registering my keyboard at the login-screen, so I restarted and it worked just fine!
I logged in, all my stuff was there, then after bout 5 mins.. Screen cut out to black.
Everything was still running, Fans on CPU and GPU and stuff. I held in the power button, waited, tried to boot it back up. No beep and no posting again, but everything still powered on such as Fans. Black Screen on my Monitor! gah..

Any Ideas?

You took the battery out and all?
Thread Starter
Yep!
Took it out and back in, turned PSU back on, powered on.. Still Black screen.
Took out the battery and left it out, tried to power it, everything as normal..Still Black screen!

Battery: Newsun 3V Lithium Cell Japan STD CR2032

All lights are a go, Mobo Light powers on and PSU light does also.
All fans are a go, fan mounted to CPU spins and so does the GPU's fan.
Just a black Screen.. Blows me away that it would work, then suddenly give out after not even five mins!

Quick question, did the power supply fan come on? I know at work some of the older computers are having their power supplies fans fail. I actually replaced one today, only because they are the IBM oddly shaped psu's but still. When the fan fails they get too hot and shut down. They stay hot for a long time. That would explain why it booted after sitting. And why it won't boot after you have had it on for five mins. One through me that curveball the other day at least. Which that doesn't explain why the fans are working. So I am contradicting, but it's worth the suggestion. Maybe the mobo is to blame or it could be the psu. You don't by chance have a tester do you. We have them at work and they are heavenly.
