Asus P8Z68-V Lucid Virtu

Thread Starter
Hi there everyone,

Today I received a MSI P67 Board in the post for my new i7 2600k.

However i decided that it was a silly decision because I could take full advantage of the features on a Z68 board (I have an SSD, discrete GFX ect.) so took it back and bought instead an ASUS Z68 board.

however i really cannot get the Lucid Virtu Software to work! frown.gif
Every time i try to run the installer it gives me the error message

"No Intel(R) HD SandyBridge Graphics Family Device or Driver was found
Setup will now exit"

I am running my Dell 3008wfp off my GTX480.

Please help me frown.gif

Welcome,

You need to go into your BIOS and enable the onboard GPU.

In the advanced section of your BIOS follow these headings:

"Advanced", "System agent configuration" and then set the "iGPU multi-monitor" option to "Enable".

Reboot and then when you get into windows it may automatically install the appropriate driver but if it doesn't then you can install it from the software dsisk that comes with your motherboard. Failing that I'm sure it can be found on ASUS' website.

I'll be honest though. I feel it is more hassel than it is worth.

Yea, unless you plan on transcoding video, I wouldn't bother. The promise was that when using the iGPU, your video card would shutdown completely, but that never worked, so your actually using more power by having the discrete gpu running in low power mode, plus the iGPU running.

Yeah thanks guys, I think for now I am acctually going to scrap that idea, originally I bought an MSI P67 board, but then thought with all these new features I would be silly not go go with a Z68, the only think that is keeping me from now sending it back is the intel rapid response... But even then, after buying both a Crucial C300 SSD and a 2.0tb WD HDD, i am getting absolutley no-where

Recently bought an Asus P8Z68-V Pro and got QuickSync working successfully on Arcsoft Mediaconverter 7 and DVDFab.

I wasn't warned that Lucid Virtu seems to be very sensitive to the Intel iGPU driver version used. The version supplied by Asus didn't work so I downloaded v8.15.10.2361 from Intel which sorted everything out.

I'm using Lucid Virtu v1.2.105.

Video transcoding is VERY fast.

I had to download the Intel HD Graphics driver from Intel's website to get Virtu to work. Also, definitely download the latest version of Virtu and install that, in order to update from a older version, you have to restart twice.

Virtu seemed to quirky for me and the SSD thing seems to gimmicky based on Anandtech's review of it.

dbarry,

I see you referenced DVDFab and QuickSync. I am seriously considering the ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe, but this MB only supports "d-mode" (since it has no integrated video out.... In other words, you need to have a dedicated graphics card for this Z68 MB). Since I am not a gamer, but I perform a lot of video transcoding (especially with DVDFab), I purchased a low cost Nvidia based GTS450 as my primary / only graphics card. So from what I have read on Lucid Virtu's Web, it seems that when one one runs in d-mode and wishes to use QuickSync you will only be able to use, by default, CyberLink Media Espresso 6.5 or ArcSoft Media converter 7. If there are other QucikSync applications you want Lucid Virtu to be aware of (like DVDFab) one must explicitly enter that executable into Lucid Virtu's application list. Is that what you needed to do with your setup? I hope that is the case, since my MB will only run in d-mode with Lucid Virtu. I suspect other Z68 users (if they wish to use DVDFab and not explicitly list it Lucid Virtu's interface), will have to either connect their monitor to the integrated graphic card or force d-mode to be off (in BIOS).

I really like other features of the ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe (USB 3 external box; Power over e-sata port), so I want to stick with this particular MB. If you can just confirm how you got Lucid Virtu to recognize DVDFab, this might allay my fears on how to get QuickSync to work with this MB....

Thanks

Ken

Sorry, haven't been able to get back sooner. USB3 problems.

I don't have to do anything to get Lucid Virtu to work with DVDFab; I go to Common Settings/General/AV Codec and "Intel Quick Sync" is there in the drop down list under H.264.
