Thanks for the analysis Sigmund Freud, but if you're a highly competitive person anything competitive with a high learning curve or random elements which set you back tends to stress you out or piss you off. Games I've thoroughly enjoyed for years without the stress or irritation like Diablo 2 and WoW didn't have that effect because there's really something for everyone. Diablo 2 was mainly pve and focused on grouping against the pc. Pvp was so random or separated from pve that it was comical really.

Same thing with WoW.. I mean, there were times when we wiped 50x a night on raid content but we were united against the objective (downing the boss) and it had a calming effect. And sure you'd randomly get ganked when leveling an alt but not constantly, and you could group up, meet new people, etc. You could never really "lose". And there was no "end" to the game.

Maybe what I really am looking for is cooperative play rather than "you vs everyone else" play.

There's this game that's free on Steam called Alien Swarm. My friends and I got MANY hours of fun out of it. This game is you and 3 other people against aliens. It's really cool because each person has a specialty (engineer, marine, medic, etc).

Starcraft as long as you don't start taking it serious .

Lots of fun and has soo many mods that are fun to play (monobattles, SC2BW, etc).

Minecraft if you haven't tried it already.

Terraria.

Most games require some practice if looking at long playing terms... it's normal. Oh btw, try not to play competitive, just play a shooter when you feel like playing one (try pissing people off with riot shields and noobtubes in MW2, everyone can play those (I only do riot, noobtube is really annoying even for myself, when playig with my cousins, riot x 3 = ftw). I never play good when I think 'I need to win this, I need to be good to make fun'. Wrong thinking , just relax, focus and play/enjoy. Hope this helps you out. When you get warmed up, let the full concentration mode begins luls (I sometimes amaze/scare myself xd)

If you are really looking for a game without the competitive feelings: (not MMO) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming out at the end of the year. Its going to be a GREAT game, just looking at the world would make you enjoy it
