You really are safe on your stock cooler if you run stock voltage and 3.5GHz. It really should not get too hot. Use HW Monitor to watch your temps under load. 60C is the mark you should not pass IMO.

So, was the vcore on auto or manual? CNQ should not spike that high, it should reduce voltage. LLC causes spikes if your board is equipped with that feature, but .50v at the most from what I have seen.

Setting LLC to very high instead of extreme should keep the vcore to within 0.01 volts of where you set it.

You're under a potent batch of misinformation. It's true that some IMC's are weaker and thus unable to accept clocks at higher rates on the DIMM's but populating all four DIMM slots is not going to 'kill' his overclock.

I have not seen any boards other than the ones with the 890fx chipset have LLC throtling options. He may not be able to specify the LLC increase like your board can. Mine does not either. I wish I could though! Mine goes up between .375v and .50v. That is too much of a gap!

Sorry, poor choice of wording on my end. I have never used 4 sticks, but I have heard of the memory controller working harder to control 2 dual channels rather than a single dual channel.

I am interested in hearing how the efficiency of the NB overclock is affected when there is 2 dual channels instead of one. For example, I am optimal at 3000 on 1 dual channel. If I add 2 more sticks, is it possible that an even higher overclock would perform better? Right now, 3200 makes my bandwith and latency worse.

This was my original train of thought. Higher NB speed improves latency and bandwith because the memory is capable of handling the data more quickly than the NB can at lower clocks. Or, the NB is slower than what the memory is capable of handling aka the memory controller is too slow to keep up with 4 sticks; hence the reason we overclock it!

All it needs is a little bump on the CPU NB to make four sticks work.

Having 2x4Gb sticks will affect the RAM and NB overclock,not necassarily the CPU.Of course that won't really happen untill he gets into the 1600MHz+ range.The more memory the more "stress" on the IMC typically.IMC's vary greatly,so there really is no telling when his might top-out.That has nothing to do with reaching a decent CPU overclock-which he still has a way to go.Turn Cool and quiet off first.After you find a sweet spot you should be able to leave it on unless you get in the 4GHz+ range.
