I'd make the jump in a hearbeat. If you'r plaing on adding another GPU, why not put it to good use?

Its about the same as going from 720p to 1080p.

Basicly what he said.

I had it, liked it, but ultimately went back. Money better spent elsewhere, like my new car. biggrin.gif

The first time I loaded up Just Cause 2 with my U2711 I thought I was playing another game. The colors and overall picture looks way better. Hell even SC2 looked noticeably better compared to my old acer 1080p. You can always find deals on these monitors. I got my U2711 new for $700 on ebay. Just keep searching.

QFT. I absolutely love my Dell u2711. I picked it up in Canada for 752$. It's definitely not something you NEED, but it is just so beautiful to look at. Every screen I look at now, including this 23" 1080p TN Samsung at my parents house is just inferior color and clarity wise.

The u2711 does put off a good amount of heat and takes a full 3-5 seconds to turn on when you hit the power button. The thing is a beast and makes every minute I spend on my pc more enjoyable.

As for multi-monitor setups... I haven't tried 3x1080p, but I really like the idea. I could not however downgrade from an IPS to 3 lower quality panels. I also can't afford 3xu2711's... if you can, this is one of the most epic gaming experiences money can buy.

SLI 480's run Crysis 2 on ultra at 2560x1440 at 40-60fps. OC'd to 875/2000 they perform around 45-70fps. You probably won't be happy with a single 580 if you want to to get 60fps in games like Metro or the DX11/High res pack of Crysis 2. Then again I'm kind of particular in that I appreciate 60+ fps greatly at such a higher resolution. 35+ is perfectly playable.

Wow, didn't expect it to be this one-sided tongue.gif

Now, do you guys think spending the additional money for 1600p is worth it over 1440p?

16:10 can be nice for the extra height, but i wouldnt say that in itself is worth it, HOWEVER it is 3" more of screen size which is nice. Generally if you have the money for the 27" you can swing the 30". i wanted the biggest when i got mine so there was no question on the 27 vs 30 for me

Yeah 30'' sounds insane. I'd probably sell one of my 24's to help fund a new monitor and keep the other as my CPU/GPU monitoring screen smile.gif

If you can afford a 27" 1440p IPS panel why not spend the extra money for a 30" 1600p IPS panel? I personally would, but I just liked the looks of the Apple Cinema Display and Apple doesn't produce a 30" 1600p model so I had no choice tongue.gif
