7xxx series approx. release? Wait or buy 6970 now? - Page 4

the 7000s will have a new architecture and be 28nm

for that reason (and to get a crazy non-PC toy) I decided against 6950 CF

so I hope they are put around Dec. that would be great

EDIT: I know nothing about 8800, just figured 5670 being DX11 and from 2010 should make it better

By "it" I meant the 8800 Ultra.

Ah, I see. I think the 8800 Ultra is better, so I'll probably just use it for a while and see how I go.

It's smart to wait and fun to upgrade now. Your choice.

I doubt you will see a Dx12 for a while. Kinda've like how 9 has stuck around for such a long time. I never really cared about what Dx I had tell 11 came out.
An improved Dx11, there is chance of.

But the new 7000 series will pretty much just consist of being 28nm, so on the high end cards you will see a lot more stream processors, on one card, etc. Also new architecture, of course.

Thanks everyone,

I'll see how long I can wait. I've got the 8800 Ultra laying around, so... it can't hurt to give it a go first.

I agree. Try out your 8800 Ultra first and if you absolutely cannot stand it upgrade to something like a Twin Frozer 2 6950. They run really cool and can overclock well.
