Hey, Valve... where is Episode 3?!? - Page 2

Other than DOTA 2, I dont know of any valve game in development.

My guess is they are working on source engine 2 and half life 3, due for release in 2013/2014

I guess they could be working on a new counter strike game in secret, but even then, why would you want to release another counter strike game in same old source engine

also opposing force was great, but blue shift was very mediocre

do you guys think tf2 going f2p means the end of source? i hope they release a new engine. i think we wont see hl3 untill a new engine comes out.

I think you all mean HL4, eps 1-3 are HL3, theoretically, or at least that was their intention until they screwed up the naming scheme.

It's funny how they broke it down into episodic releases to speed up production and release times, yet we're waiting longer than ever, it makes no sense.

They're kind of like Blizzard though, they're sitting on a pile of gold and they know that, so they just take their time and put no real effort into it. Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft all come to mind, HL pretty much sits with those in the 'let's wait 10 years for a sequel' category.'

How do you know how much effort a developer does/doesn't put into a title before it's even officially confirmed?

In context of the OP, they put no effort into releasing games frequently, this is evident by the lack of, well, releases......I did mention right before at that they just take their time.

I'll take long waits for good games over rushed bad ones.

that's not to say it's a given that the games will be good [see:duke nukem forever], but given valve's consistency for releasing good games I'll err on the side of "it'll probably be good" and just let them take their time.

I heard that nobody at the company was motivated to work on it that is why it isn't coming...

Please tell me that was sarcasm, friend.

How could someone NOT be motivated in terms of contributing to one of the most epic and enthralling stories in PC gaming history?!? :O

I thought I saw someone's video on Youtube where there was a tiny HL2EP3 booth that didn't get much attention. I also read somewhere that Valve confirmed that it was coming, they weren't sure on a date though.
