Just finished Mass Effect for the first time.. - Page 2

I think my biggest complaint with the game is the lack of difference in gear aesthetic. I mean, almost everything I wore looked identical, and it bothered me to no end.

Is it like that in ME2?

You are stuck with the same armor in ME2 unless you buy expansion items. As in pay with real $...

You get mods for the armor that slightly changes the look but it is more or less the same. However you can choose the color and patterns of your gear.

There are also only a few weapons of each class. 3 pistols, 2 or 3 SMGs, 3 sniper rifles etc. I think you can buy a couple more but there aren't many kinds.

The gear system is totally different in ME2. I prefer the gear system in ME1 much more but otherwise I think ME2 is the better game.

I see. I thought I remembered it being different, but I only played like 20 minutes into it before.

I guess I just hope for Dragon Age/KOTOR type gear system. I hate looking at the same thing for 30-40 hours.

Same here. I actually didn't use some gear in ME1 just because it was so damn ugly. I can't remember what armor is bright yellow but I always omni-gelled those instead of using them even if they were a higher level than what I currently had. They were just so damn ugly...

Yeah I'm just playing ME1 so I can import a ME2 character. Now that I played ME2 once and understand how to do a perfect game I'm looking to do a perfect play through so that I have the ultimate character to import into ME3. I'm not looking to waste a bunch of time playing ME1. I enjoy the story but I want to blow through it pretty quick.

I've also read that if you had Ashley as a love interest in ME1 and don't take a love interest in ME2 you get Ashley as a love interest in ME3 when she comes back. That is if she survives in your ME1 playthrough... You can tell if Ashley is still your love interest in ME2 because you will have a picture of her in your cabin in ME2. If the picture ends up face down on your desk then that means you have lost her as a love interest.

It's pretty cool that choices in ME1 will effect the game in ME3.

The specter weapons can only be purchased. They are the best in the game. But most of the armor for sale is crap. You have to find the good armor.
