How much i can overclock this. - Page 2

what are the default clocks of this FX 5200? is it a 64 or 128bit model? there is a lot of different models...
as for seeing any gain... well it's true, but I think in some old games you will see some 10% improvement
maybe it's useful for playing some Hl2, CS Source (forcing DX80 for better perf) or something...

I remember back in 2003 when this card was released... already at the time it was criticized by the poor DX9 performance, but for DX8 and lower it was a solid midrange card.

but anyway, it can be fun to overclock some old HW and try to find any gain on 3dmark 2001SE or something,.

as for the ram, try to look at the chips, the last part of the code normally will tell you it's rated speed... apart from that it's up to you to test,

I would try installing nVidia System Tools ... it's an nVidia Forceware (driver) Add-On that allows overclocking. It's simple and works okay, and might even work w/that ancient card. Other options would be Rivatuner (only works right on XP) or nTune (an even older Forceware add-on for overclocking, probably also only works on XP).

I have no idea how 'old' your drivers have to be for any of these tools to work correctly though. It's possible you'd have to use some pretty old drivers for them to be compatible. Of course, you might want old drivers for that card anyway.

ocing your gpu memory will actually be QUITE beneficial in your attemots to play games.

however, with lack of graphical api support, and just the nature of the gpu design and age, it wont help you to play newer games.
