So have a ceshan of gaming, check my usage, if it near being all used add more. If not save up for a ssd.

The key word is "worth". Memory is at an awesome price right now so i say go for it.

you could just get a 2 GB stick of ram and then you would have 6 GB which would be decent then save the rest for an SSD.

Then he runs into loosing performance but gaining space because he would be running triple channel in a dual channel system.

I say go for it. RAM is dirt cheap right now. you wont see much increase in gaming performance, but ive seen a hefty boost in general system snappiness and loading time for programs of all types since upgrading. But ive always got a bunch of stuff running in the background.
Then there is the fact that 8GB is more future proof...and the fact that its cheap....

SSD is a better all around investment, but at current prices 8GB cant hurt. If you can swing ~$40 for something right now, you wont find a better use for that amount of money than more memory.
