Good 12" fan to replace one of the Silver Arrow fans?

Hi,

I just bought Silver arrow and I'm facing a common problem. I can setup fans to suck air, but as you know this is not the best way to do it, so I tried to setup fans to give air to the sink. The problem, one of the fans must be placed over my memories (rip jaws X) and the fan sticks out of the case.

I'm thinking of buying a smaller one for this purppose (I think 12mm will do). Could anyone recomend a good one that could be used with the Silver Arrow?.

Thanks in advance.

First of all, you should change it from a 12" fan to a 120mm one. Second, there is probably no more than a few degrees difference in temps between pull/push pull, and push pull/push.

So, how quiet do you want the fan? And what is your budget?

Hehehe, yes mate, that was an embarrashing error . I will change it right now to 12mm. Well, around 15 euros will be by top for this kind of fan I think.

I thought the push option for the fan was going to be significantly better.

Perhaps I should just go back to my previous setup, and add 2 more fans the the case as some pals suggested to improve my case refrigeration.

Thanks.

If you want to test the push config, just remove the heat spreaders from your RAM. They aren't really needed when running at 1.5v.

If you find that push config doesn't make enough change in your temps and like the looks the spreads give, you could always put them back on when you move your fan back to pull.

12"? I wonder how much power that must draw.

From personal experience, the fan set up makes only a 2*C difference. Not enough to worry about changing fans to get a push/pull set up imo. However, if you still do want to change it out, how much noise are you ok with?

Don't you mean 12cm/120mm?

Anyways, without looking at benchmarks i'm going to guess that a NF-P12 would be a good fan. It ain't cheap though. And since you are using a 140mm fan in pull instead of a 120mm fan in push, you should get nearly the same results. If you aren't worried about 1-3*C, then i wouldn't recommend getting another fan. If you have an extra 120mm fan laying around, you could put it to the test.

A quick google search brought me to this:

It seems i was right. Only a few degrees difference.
