I guess it comes down to what games you play and personal preference.
Check the link that Derp posted a few posts up, on optimizing your mouse for BFBC2. You can edit the game's .ini and .dbx files for each mode, to independently set your sensitivity for each task; infantry, land, air, as well as the camera (UAV, turrets, mounted weapons). Believe me, it is worth the time and effort to tweak each of these settings. The reward of this tweaking is that you don't need to switch DPI at all during the game. You can jump in and out of vehicles, man or leave mounted weapons, etc. and will automatically always have the right sensitivity. It's then one less thing to worry about, in the heat of battle, where fractions of a second count. Obviously, it makes sense to find an empty server to run around in and try things out, so that the vehicles and mounted weapons are available and you're not being shot at. Plus, you have to exit the game, to edit the .ini and/or .dbx files, and then restart the game. I'm using 800 dpi for everything.
