I literally laughed out loud reading that. My brother has turtle beach headphones for his xbox and they sound like absolute garbage regardless of what he paid for them.

Especially with the "redesigned" audio engine. Now you'll be able to hear those nerf gun sounds in their full glory.

..Not mad, just kind of sad. It surprises me when people say things like "it's not for music, it's for gaming!" as if each is mutually exclusive. All you need from headphones for gaming are soundstage and clarity. Turtle Beaches aren't even mediocre;they're bad. I owned an X1 for Xbox, and the sound quality is atrocious.

I got a pair of X41's off of Kijiji for $90

And Love em. This looks like the same thing but MW3 Version.

The only thing I have to stress is..............rechargable batteries!

Well excuse you. We can have our opinions.
People who spend money on what I and many others would consider to be evil is the worst possible thing going. Yes, I used the word evil. This headset is pure evil. This is the equivalent of Monster Cables.

Why should we not care about people spending money, regardless of whose it is, on Monster Cables? So all the businesses making HDMI cables think they can also charge $100 for a 6ft cable that is only for $10? Same logic applies here.

These mediocre headsets that Turtle sells go for $100, and this one specifically for $300, and everyone buys them because their brand name. Not because of quality. Other companies see this and think they can do the same.

Another example relatively similar to these are Beats headphones. People spend $250 on those damn things. They are OK headphones. But because they're "in style" and all the kids buy them, they must be worth the money right? Wrong. You can get a way better pair of cans for half the price. It puts the business in a bad situation.
If you're making quality headphones, why should you sell cheaper than the worse ones? Then you've suddenly got a price hike in the entire damn industry because everyone used your logic and didn't care about what other people buy.

You better bet your damn pennies we have EVERY right to hate on what people spend their money on. For you to even say that astonishes me.

I forget which out of the dozens Turtle Beach has, but one $150 pair I tried was actually decent. It wasn't wireless and it sounded ok even with music.
I'm no expert audiophile of course, more of a wannabe (lol) but they certainly were useable. Definitely not worth $150 though.

I usually save this for people who create "I need a headset" thread, but I think its pretty good here

Quote:

HORRIBLE
GAMING
HEADSETS

Hey, it seems you have started a thread asking for help buying headsets so you can talk to your guild while you play WoW. This is a helpful guide to bluntly state some of the finer points.

Let me get this out of the way quickly, straight up NEVER BUY A HEADSET. You may be asking, "Why?!" since virtually every uneducated fool has one. Well good thing I'm here, so I can teach you up.

Headsets are inherently a horrible idea because they combine piss poor headphones with a piss poor microphone and cost significantly more then they would cost separately, and I stress the significant part, its a joke. Not only do you get worse quality for the price, but because you are combining garbage parts with cheap wiring they are much more likely to break, and when they do, are harder to fix.

What you do want: A set of good headphones (depends on your budget), and a cheap desk mic. Personally, and many others on this forum will support this, I have the ATH AD700's. Great set of all around phones, perfect for listening to music and playing video games. They got decent bump, nothing that will blow you away, but their sound stage is incredible. They are open air though, so they do have some leakage.

Surround Sound... Since you have asked for headset help, it is also very likely that one of your criteria is that the headset you get recommended be Surround Sound because you think that will improve your piss poor kdr. First things first, you suck, accept that you are terrible at FPS games and move on. nothing will help that, no matter how much money you through at it, I will always whoop that ass. But secondly, while the fact that it won't make you better is irrelevant, what is relevant is that fact that actual surround sound in headphones (putting multiple poor speakers, all less then a half an inch from your ear) is only a gimmick, and a poor one at that. Not just a "oh it costs a lost and isn't that good" kind of gimmick. It actually adds NOTHING to your experience, gives you surrond sound that can be less accurate then virtual surround sound with 2.0 headphones, and gives you significantly worse sound quality for the price, since you have very cheap drivers (there are 7 of them), and a cheap brand

If you still aren't convinced...lol go buy a razer or fatality or something, and everytime you pick up those pieces of garbage I hope you are reminded of my post and your asinine decision.

lol Ive had some budget TB's p21,px21 and x11's and have had no issues for gaming purposes.
For all those complaining they are prob audiophiles and they feel they have to flex some type of e-peen here. No body cares what you think. Many people will buy them and enjoy them regardless of what you complain about because they are not your 1337 headset setup you may have.

get over it. TB will make them and make lots of money off them and people will buy them for their own reasons.

I have owned 2 sets of Turtle Beaches, the original X1's and the current X11's. I love em. Work with PC and 360 great and for $50 its not that bad. The only downside to em is that there is a very slight static noise and you have to deal with a 16ft cable, but hey no batteries or charging. Now the only reason I would buy these is because they are all black other than that the logo means nothing to me.

If you think the X1s were anywhere near "great" for $50 you can't have heard any decent headphones. I'm sorry, but the X1s have laughably bad audio quality. Not to mention annoying static noise that goes through your phones and your microphone, and a flimsy mic that's likely break within a few months
