Problems cleaning LCD monitor

Thread Starter
Well hello there to all you lovely, lovely people. I have recently moved back from my university home to my parents house for the summer, and unfortunately in taking my monitor back it has a mark which I can't get off (see the attached photo). It looks like some adhesive is stuck to the screen, similar to when you try and pull a sticker off something and can't get rid of it all. I have tried using standard LCD cleaner but to no avail. I was wondering whether anyone had any advice on how to get it off?

(scratching doesn't work either, but I know I'm not meant to do that, so I didn't do it...and no jokes about certain white stuff which is known to be sticky, as this occurred whilst it was in the back of the car as I was driving, you naughty people).

Cheers!

Use double sided tape. Peel off one side and 'dab' at it until it comes off; I only recommend double sided tape because the adhesive is strong, but it also has some stretching 'give' to it.

I'm afraid that hasn't done the trick, it is still there unfortunately. Any other tips and tricks?

Use Nail Polish remover. That stuff will take anything off.

I'd try a bit of nail varnish remover. Or lighter fluid works. Wack a bit on a cotton bud and wipe.

Are you sure those aren't scratches? If they are, the only way to get rid of them would be to do a risky AG layer removal operation, which would make the monitor glossy.

Otherwise; I have no idea. I usually clean LCDs on chemichal free, dry, microfiber cloths but that's for fingerprints, not this kind of stuff.

You can also try cooking oil on a coffee filter. Not saturated, but enough to coat the area. Let it sit, and then wipe it off with alcohol on a clean coffee filter. You may have to do this multiple times.

Why not rubbing alcohol....I've used it many times with no problem.

Those are scratches on the AG layer of the screen.
