How do I paint the fans?

So I've got some 80mm and 120mm black fans which I want to paint white. So what steps do I have to follow like sanding, priming, etc before spraying? Detailed step by step procedure would be appreciated.

Can't really help you with a step by step, but one thing to make sure of is that the paint is evenly distributed across the blades.

Here's a good guide for disassembling, painting, and reassembling fans.

First off, make sure you take the fan blades.

Then sand it down with semi-fine grit sand paper

Then paint it with one coat of primer, be careful to not overdo it and make bubbles/paint pools. Let then dry for 2 minutes, checking for imperfections. If you see any, let it dry for a few hours, resand, and try again.

Then apple 2 -3 coats of white, 5 minutes apart.

Finally, take a VERY fine grit sand paper, clean it, then apply 2 coats of matte clear coat.

Done!

Put them back together!

I painted my gentle typhoons black using krylon fusion paint. Zero prep work other than giving them a quick blast with canned air to clean any dust off them. I didn't even take the fans off. I hung them with a piece of sting through one of the mounting holes in the frame and was careful to get them from every angle.

There are a few tiny patches that didn't get covered so well on the back side of one of the fans but I just put that fan on my heat sink so you can't even see it.

Just make sure to paint in several thin coats. I wait about 10 minutes between coats. Don't just try to get all the painting done in one pass or you will get drips and possibly get the fans out of balance. My first coat of paint doesn't even completely cover whatever I'm painting.

I also let them dry a full 24 hours before trying to touch them. Spray paint companies always claim their stuff dries in 15 minutes blah blah blah... I say never even attempt to touch what you have painted for several hours.

But they were white I guess. If I spray white over black without prep work, will the black color be visible?
