Alpenföhn Peter (New monster aftermarket cooler))

Thread Starter
So i was browsing interwebz, and saw this aftermarket cooler from Alpenföhn called "peter". It seems its even better than AXP plus eek.gif, also you can mount 2x 140mm fans on it or 4x 120mm biggrin.gif. Price is about 50 euros without fans. Also i have readed that you can use on GTX 580 that original base plate for VRM cooling.

I've seen a preview of this cooler a while ago, it certainly looks like a good one, the very few reviews that are out on it seem positive.
Being able to use the stock ram/vrm plate is certainly a bonus.

I don't know of anyone selling it in North America, which is "part" of the reason you have had no response to your post from anyone on this forum.

With that fast 580 in your specs., that would be quite a combo.

It's Friday as I write this, if you bought one, let me know how it works for you:)

Finally got it, and this thing is so good. It takes indeed 5 slots, but its performance is sick (bought 2x 1450rpm Scythe GT for it). Im currently running 1.125v @ 970/2300 mem, and its dead silent + in gaming never exceeds 70c, around 30c room temperature biggrin.gif (reference failed with these hot room temperatures at 1.1v, 90c+ @ 75% fan speed).

Installation was pain in the ass, so unclear instructions for mounting (especially how you mount the monstrous fan cage to case). If you are gonna use reference baseplate with this, you need remove it to get acces to reference fan screws (needs to be removed or else heatsink wont fit). Pretty nice bonus tho that you can use the baseplate for VRM/Memory cooling.

Wow!
And that is a very high ambient room temperature.
It is great that you can use the stock baseplate with it.

I must mention that a couple years ago, I bought a Prolimatech MK-13, which has a similar system for the fans using a support bar, and it was also capable of using the stock baseplate, with a 480.
But the heatsink itself, although very well made, was much lighter-duty than "Peter", and didn't do very well at a high load with a 480. Prolimatech took the 480 off their compatibility list shortly after.

This new cooler from Alpenfohn is what I had hoped the MK-13 would have been, and more.
