Overclocking amd phenom ii x6 1100t to 4.2ghz with 16gb ram - Page 2

I am no expert, but first of all as it has been said the motherboard needs cooling on those VRM's and the voltage is kinda low imo. I have an unlocked X3 450 Rana and I have to have 1.408V to keep it stable on 3.5Ghz. So for 4Ghz I would imagine you would need atleast 1.45V?
But try to remove some RAM... I mean it's not like you can't put it back in right

I run 4.5Ghz at about ~1.52v, and 4.0Ghz usualy takes about 1.42-1.45v. I've tried 8GB, 10GB and 12GB of RAM and they all seem to be stable at 4.5Ghz. Whether 16GB is too much for a 4.2Ghz overclock, I don't know. But If you can do it with 8GB, chances are you can do it with 16GB with a bit a tweaking.
