You will need a DAC (digital to analog converter) with TRS output. Note that these are studio monitors and have only a stereo output. To make it 2.1 you need a subwoofer.

If they're like the BX5a, you need a 3.5mm male to stereo 1/4" male adapter like so:

To connect them to any regular 3.5mm soundcard output.

For 2.1, you'll need a seperate subwoofer. First, you'll need to get a y-splitter 3.5mm male to dual 3.5mm female. Then, get a 3.5mm male to male RCA
adapter to connect the subwoofer. Connect the BX8a to one of the dual 3.5mm outputs, and the subwoofer to the other.

would this plug be of any use ?

" S/PDIF In/Out "

would it be better to use a receiver to hook everything up?

comparing sound quality . which would be a better option ?

these are the pictures from the seller of the pair.

what do you guys think? it doesnt look like the ones on the website of M-Audio

These are bx8a:

Ask for more pictures. Something is fishy for sure.
