Cannot solve crashes, help requested!

Thread Starter
I'll start by posting my laptop specs:
Intel i7-920
2x GTX285M (SLI)
8GB of RAM
A 80GB Intel SSD + 2x320GB harddrives
Based on Clevo X8100
Some additional things (Bluetooth, Intel wifi, some random TV card, IR receiver)
Running Windows 7 64bit SP1 (with latest updates)
Nothing overclocked.
(Laptop is out of warranty btw)

Laptop is used in my university course in Game Development, I run a lot of 3ds max, Photoshop and other applications. Laptop is also used for occasional gaming, not so much anymore.

So the problem started about 8 months ago with some occasional crashes and bluescreens. I reinstalled Windows and it seemed to solve the problem but they resurfaced not long after. Couple months later I reinstalled Windows again for a cleanup but this didn't solve anything either.

The crashes seem to happen at completely random times (sometimes when gaming, more often with 3ds max, sometimes when watching a movie, sometimes just when running MSN and doing nothing in particular).

What I have tried to do to find the problem:
- Turn off SLI (didn't solve it)
- Check temperatures (all good)
- Run a GPU benchmark for about 30 minutes (furmark)
- Run memtest for about 30 minutes (not long enough for a decent test but I still had a quick try)

My main concern is how random these crashes appear... I honestly have no clue what the problem could be. They do seem to happen more often when running 3ds max.

Does anyone have an idea what I could try?
Thanks

Check the SSD with Intel's SSD Toolbox. I've seen people with similar issues because of the SSD. Also, please run memtest+ overnight, you never know, it could just be the RAM.

Just ran the Intel SSD Toolbox and everything was in the green, excet superfetch wasn enabled. It recommended I disable it and I did... Not sure if this will make any difference.

I'll run some more memtest tomorrow

Thanks for the advice
