I removed the PSU from my unit and checked it out, and it seems perfectly fine function wise, but the fan is just spinning quickly + turbulence = breaking the peace. I've found many threads like this so, I'm beginning to realize that there is nothing at all wrong with my psu, but that the model is not built to be quiet (despite their advertised "ultra-quiet" cooling). I'm about 30 days out from my Newegg refund policy, so I'm SOL at this point. I'd very much like to grab a silent psu (even 850w, as I've been considering an SLI set-up in the future), but I'd be saddled with a $120 brick. What kind of re-sale value do these things have?
seeing as how the psu is practically new, it's not worth selling. you'll lose too much money out of it. you might be able to do a trade for a x750 or something. but selling it is a downpoint for you right this moment.
trust me, once your other parts drown out the psu noise, you'll eventually get used to it.
