I'm about 30 days out from my Newegg refund policy, so I'm SOL at this point. I'd very much like to grab a silent psu (even 850w, as I've been considering an SLI set-up in the future), but I'd be saddled with a $120 brick. What kind of re-sale value do these things have?
awts that sucks... honestly, if i were in your shoes. i'll turn up the fans speed of your rig so it drowns out the psu noise

seeing as how the psu is practically new, it's not worth selling. you'll lose too much money out of it. you might be able to do a trade for a x750 or something. but selling it is a downpoint for you right this moment.

trust me, once your other parts drown out the psu noise, you'll eventually get used to it.

I think I've been spoiled by using laptops for so long (barely any sound). It's just a damned shame that everything else is so quiet but the damned psu, of all things, sounds like a wind tunnel under my desk.

i know how you feel buddy. i had an OCZ psu for the longest time. it really depends on how much you wanna take for a loss.

btw i suggest you edit that post about asking for an appraisal of a psu. you can't ask fro appraisals until 35 rep. having that said, you also can't sell or trade until 35 rep.

let me know via PM if you need any suggestions on a new psu. i might be able to find you a nifty one for a good price on newegg.

I appreciate your support. I think I'm going to camp out until either the seasonic x750 or x850 go on sale and then snatch one up and try to dump my current psu. I wish I had been more noise-conscious when I was purchasing my rig (my first build), but I think I was too worried about the bang-for-buck issue. For $40 more, had I known (about 50 people recommended the tx750 to me, I swear ), I could have gotten a dead silent, gold rated psu that may have even shot laser at dust-bunnies. Ohh well... You win some, you lose most.

Does anyone know how often seasonic x series PSUs go on sale at various internet outlets, or are more of like the Levi jeans of PSUs that never go on sale?

you actually missed out on a x750 sale that was there last week. they are random. x750 isn't the only psu that is silent

the neo eco line is very silent as well as the corsair hx series. you might look at those while you're at it too.

I'm really not too concerned about load noise, but idle has to be very quiet. I'll look into those.
